On the 21st April 2012 I am organising, on behalf of The Rotary Club of Brentwood Breakfast, “Moonlight Serenade” - A Glen Miller/Big Band 1940’s War Time Supper Dance. This is to be held at Hutton Poplars Hall, Poplars Drive, Hutton, Essex from 7 till 11pm. 

 

  • Melvin Beddow Big Band performing Glen Miller hits plus other hits from the 1940’s in full military costume with professional crooners
  • Ration books will be issued at the door and will need to be stamped for you to receive your 2 course supper and coffee (authentic wartime fare)
  • Light musical entertainment during supper
  • Newspapers reporting on events that occurred on the 21st April 1942 available to read
  • Posters of the time around the room
  • Grand Raffle; Prizes include - One week at a villa in Italy, Flight over your own house, Return transport to Stansted airport
  • ARP Blackout inspection will take place
  • Possible air raid warning - so be prepared!
  • Swing and American Smooth dance lessons will be available before the evening on request.

 

We hope to make this war time supper dance as authentic as possible.

 

Proceeds will go towards the British Legion’s Battle Back Centre plus other Rotary Charities. (if you are unable to attend but wish to make a donation please send cheques, made payable to The Rotary Club of Brentwood Breakfast, and post them to Crushes Manor Clinic, 501 Ongar Road, Brentwood Essex CM15 9JP)

 

We are limited to 120 places and tickets cost £35 each. Why not register your serious interest now or better still purchase your tickets right away to make sure you don’t miss out!

 

Dress code: Ladies – any appropriate long evening dress or military uniform of the time. Tights with seams at the back can be purchased in most large department stores

Gentleman - lounge suit/dinner jacket or again military uniform of the time

 

Please bring as many friends as you can and support this unique and unusual event for very good causes
