Welcome to the MELT help website. Please see the MELT website to find the latest version of MELT (melt.igs.umaryland.edu).

Update 12 May 2022: After nearly 10 years of development, I have decided to end my support for MELT. I began development of MELT as part of my final PhD rotation, where I would end up spending 5 (mostly) good years. Since those early days (MELT began it's life as one long perl script!), it has been amazing watching the support that it has built – first as part of the 1000 Genomes Project and then as a workhouse of transposon biology. This was a somewhat difficult decision, but due to changing priorities in my career, I needed to let MELT go. There have been fewer and fewer questions here over the last year or so, and so I hope I am not leaving anybody in too difficult of a position (and this instead reflects how well programmed MELT is!). All the best and thanks for all the support over the last 10 years!

Please know that questions asked on this forum WILL NOT be answered! if you need help with MELT, please email sdevine@som.umaryland.edu.

Update 18 September 2017: MELT is now published in Genome Research! Please see the MELT manual for information on how to cite MELT. We have also released several post-publishing bug fixes/updates. Please ensure you are using the latest version of MELT when asking questions. Note that MELT now requires Java 1.8 and that some options during MELT runtime may have changed (e.g. -l is now -bamfile).
