Dear colleagues and friends,
I would like to share that today is a special day at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. I am deeply humbled to receive the 2026 UNESCO Carlos J. Finlay Prize for Microbiology and I would like to thank all my colleagues, mentors, collaborators, and friends who have been part of this journey.
The web content and my remarks will touch on melioidosis, and I hope they may, in some way, contribute to our shared goal of saving lives from this disease.

This is great Aphaluck, and gives us all a fascinating and novel perspective on how we try to use the results of our research to reduce morbidity and mortality from melioidosis.
