Hi Guys,

Unfortunately the once in a blue moon inevitable has happened to me...
(As I am more than a little peeved off, I'm hoping that this makes
some amount of sense).

After a couple of drinks with friends, I have had my laptop stolen. It
was last seen in Victoria Street, North Melbourne.

<snip>

With the current range of laptops and with the advent of PCs like eeePC, there seems to be a range of laptops that now have some grunt (albeit not heaps), but are under $1000. Without much experience in them, but with much faith in the latest Ubuntu, couldn't this be a possible solution to try? And there wouldn't be much harm in bringing the installer disc to the shops and asking the store guy to boot up with them... smaller shops would probably be more willing to help than the large chains...

Just a suggestion... although it may not be a good one...

:-)
