March event: Google Maps: Inside & Out [+Map Developers of Melb Unite!]

Dear members,

Firstly, a courtesy reminder that you should sign up to our MeetUp group which replaces our Google Group for communicating events. If not, please do so! We will be closing down this forum in the coming months.

Re. tonight's event we'll be starting off a little earlier at 6pm at ThoughtWorks, so that people can satisfy their pizza and beer craving before we get into tonight's awesome session on Google Maps: Inside & Out. 

Tonight's talk will be solely focused on the 'why' of maps, to give you inspiration of what's possible and help you choose the best technologies. There will be code snippets but I want you to really think about what will make your map app relevant to your audience.

As such the talk will take approx 45-60 mins and should wrap up around 7:30pm. If we have time, I'll go into more depth into the coding with examples I've built or debug existing best practice examples that take your interest. I'll also show off some alternatives like the excellent TileMill (MapBox) and OpenStreetMaps if we have time too.
