Crossing Flemington Rd from Abbotsford St

Hello All,
How are bike riders expected to cross Flemington Rd to Royal Park after riding up Abbotsford St North Melbourne? The Flemington Rd pedestrian crossing includes bike lights (it has a surprising zig zag that nearly disoriented me). But how are you expected to reach it from riding up the other side of Abbotsford St?

Good point.  Flemington Rd is a declared road, i.e. controlled by Vicroads. Makes it hard to get changes.  

The only safe way I can see would be to use the pedestrian crossing on the south side of Flem Rd to move east from the Abbotsford St slip Rd, to reach the existing bike/ped crossing on the east side of the intersection. So would bike lights along that route help?
