I went to bio21 yesterday, and it seems there are a number of things
we have to do before we can really get started. I talked to Cheng and
Daisy (the RA) yesterday, but was unable to meet with Paul.
(In no particular order:)
Paul has agreed to meet us at 10am on Monday. Perhaps we could meet up
15 minutes earlier to sort ourselves out and work out a rough plan of
the week? What do you guys think?
We then have to prepare media and other things like pipette tips for
autoclaving (the autoclave has been booked for us at 1pm on Monday)
We also need to order in some pipettes (will take about a week before
we can get them in, in the meantime we'll just borrow from other
people in the lab.)
Hunt down our DNA plates. They could be in Paul's freezer. The strains
we ordered are in Cheng's -70. Didn't hear anything about receiving
the extra part that we ordered separately. Perhaps Paul has it.
Go down to store to get things like lab books and tube racks.
Get our cards activated and lockers sorted out. (Hopefully this won't
eat up too much time.)
Safety induction will probably be on Thursday.
It might be useful to bring a coat hanger from home for your lab coat.
