Position Title:  Communications and Knowledge Management Officer

Type of Appointment:  Full time, Local hire position

Mekong Partnership for the Environment - Project

Pact Thailand is seeking a full-time Communications and Knowledge Management Officer to support the design and implementation of outreach and communications materials for the Mekong Partnership for the Environment project. The ideal candidate will support the Media and Communications Director and broader MPE team on designing and managing the project’s communications and outreach materials, social media presence, and other relevant duties.  S/he should be a team player, knowledgeable about communications technologies and processes, and produce high quality written and digital material. MPE’s goal is to advance informed dialogues between government, civil society organizations, and private sector stakeholders in Lower Mekong partner countries on the anticipated social and environmental costs and benefits of large-scale regional development projects. Limited regional travel to Lower Mekong countries may occur with this position. This is a local hire position based in Bangkok, Thailand.

RESPONSIBILITIES

>> ·       Create, edit, and/or layout media products such as e-newsletters, reports, and fact sheets
>>
>> ·       Update MPE communications platforms, websites, and databases and manage user-generated content
>>
>> ·       Support the Media and Communications Director in the gathering of news stories and data for the Geojournalism hub.
>>
>> ·       In collaboration with the Community of Practice Coordinator and Media and Communications Director, manage the community of practice website content, including member discussion and information content
>>
>> ·       Contribute to the development of information tools such as articles, explainers, “listicles”, infographics and/or videos
>>
>> ·       Develop and maintain MPE social media strategies and presence
>>
>> ·       Conduct media monitoring, including tracking relevant media coverage and conducting basic media analyses, in coordination with country Program Officers
>>
>> ·       Conduct research, compile summaries, and gather data to support communications activities
>>
>> ·       Work with MPE administrative team to plan and organise special meetings and/or events
>>
>> ·       Perform administrative tasks such as maintaining journalist contact lists and tracking event participants
>>
>> ·       Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND ABILITITIES
>>
>> ·       Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as, knowledge management, communications, media, public relations, or journalism
>>
>> ·       A minimum of three years of experience in communications-type work
>>
>> ·       Organised and detail oriented and with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and a variety of tasks
>>
>> ·       Excellent writing and editing skills and a strong “news sense”
>>
>> ·       High level of proficiency in verbal and written English required. Language skills in Vietnamese, Burmese and/or Khmer  preferred.
>>
>> ·       High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, web applications, and social media outlets required.
>>
>> ·       Graphic design skills preferred
>>
>> ·       Demonstrated understanding of environmental and development issues preferred
