NOTE: All this has been confirmed by now everything you need to know about what carries over is down below, thank you all who helped clarify this . And here's the wiki which is pretty much the best guide out there. _Wiki
I searched around the forums and apparently they changed how new game plus works from the original Japanese/European versions you actually can go from easy to normal or easy to hard and things do get carried over which will help make normal or even hard a cake walk here's the these topics to clarify this.
Stuff like titles and gallery apparently get carried over, the "books" for the true end is unknown right now, people say they do, others say they don't, same goes for captured monsters, I'm playing easy anyway for the story so I'll clarify if needed or if someone can tell me ill edit this.
I haven't beaten the game yet obviously so i cant say 100% for sure but if you want to have an easier time with the game then you can try it, I'm only putting this up for the people who don't want to play hard normally and have an easier time with this game, if you want to play the game on hard and have a challenge that's okay too.
Every thing on New Game + is Ambiguous so no one really knows, or hasn't given the information out as of yet on what carries over. This is all we really know for now. GO TO PAGE 2 FOR MORE INFO, LOOK FOR NECROMANCER POST.
Note: if doing this a lot the game might screw it like the music will be gone, or you cant hear anyone's voices, you will have to go to the the dashboard and start the game up again or reset the console to fix this issue.
Do not I repeat DO NOT use TP for any of the weapons you can buy with TP in the adventure guild, you find most if not all in the DLC dungeons that where put in the US version of the game and you will be replacing/losing these weapons when doing new game plus anyway so save up for books and save the unused TP for new game plus since books and again unused carry over.
Every single one of them can be found in each generation except the first in one of the dungeons on each continents again except the first one, and you can use them each of them to recreate characters who are gone, for example the first tome can revive the first generation(Leon) hero and the 3 girls who were wife potentials(Fyuria, Luana, Elaine) and the same for the other tomes, by generation 5 you can have all generation hero and their 3 potential wives on your team if you choose to.
1.Try to always have your characters in extended areas and chain linked together the more and faster the AP you get the less longer you'll have that annoying boss on the field any longer then he needs to be, and to end matches quicker to get better results, and finally a lot of the moves later on need a good douse of ap and saving and getting better equipment isn't always gonna cut it.
2. Unless trying to chain an attack together or using your special attacks, always have magic like impulse, wind, etc. last that will keep guys from countering you, but countering can work to your advantage to with attacks like that and with them always hitting and if your character has good defense it can be used as a way to get easy SP, like for example my Brognine for the longest time didnt have any Ap or and also has the most awkward extended area which made him not able to use his best attack like my Zerva, so like the tank he should be I let him attack with normal attacks on guys who can counter which let him get his SP high enough to end matches much quicker with his devastating Broken Knuckles attack.
3.Try to lessen your movements as much as possible with extended areas to without having to use to much AP, and hit X before starting an attack to see where that character will end up, and if that character will be still an extended area and chain linked to someone.
4. With Extended areas there's also a benefiting to using just one character to attack with a simple move not only will that increase their SP, it will give you some thought of how that particular monster works, like in later generation some monsters are so fast to magi they miss all the time, while other monster cant get hit when their health is to low so you have to use magic, its either there special ability or just its level stats being that much higher.
5. Use heal even even when a character has full health this will also increase the caster and the targets SP which you should use when you only need about 5 or 10 SP to use a special attack and combine with every other characters special attack.
6. When using a move on a monster on the other direction your character will move to that direction but sometimes when a monster is on the right and your character is facing left, for example my Zerva uses black mist on the guy on the right but when he faces that direction he leaves the extended area chain link with everyone but instead he only faced up and was still uses the ability and was still in the chain link use this to your advantage and remember to use X to see if this happens.
In setting you can turn off animations of attacks, and movements to make battles go much faster, but do this only after you get the 6 characters united attack achievement since it will only pop when you have these on.
A good tip by Vermillion Haze with the "Move Area" option in the map screen you press X and you can return to the original areas you been before which means you can go back and capture those old monsters you may find useful now to get active skills like fairy's, mages, Etc.
Mostly everything does carry over but the G, Ep, TP, PP, etc. only the unused carry over so don't use PP points your gonna need it for the hard. Some titles such as monster kills, and number of items don't carry over.
Oh and Levels reset regardless even from going to hard and playing hard again or going from hard to an easier difficulty, what makes new game plus good is passive skills which means your stats do get carried over and you can max out all stats if you so please, also want to make clear weather you do easy and switch to normal or hard or normal to hard is always the same of what you lose so theirs no benefit for doing it on normal then easy, and also you do something like easy to easy or normal to easy or hard to hard or either easy or normal you keep pretty much everything except levels and maybe things above stated.
These are what really can make hard pathetically easy, in fact this is the reason why it makes it easy, remember when I said capturing monsters and combining were important for getting important weapons, well I was mistaken it wasn't the weapons you want, its the skills that high level monsters drop those monster weapon that some monsters have can be converted to make these skills and they can really make your guys unstoppable of course it ain't all that easy since you also need the accessories for these slots, but here's links for the monsters to look out for especially the Griffin which hold the key to giving 999+ attack, and it also says what monsters are needed to make them. So combine the saved PP for simple sat increase and active skills, well you do the math XD.
Credits go to the people at gamefaqs boards & arksys boards, and of coarse the wiki for this game deserves much for everything, and users Necromancer, Saracin, and SnowSakura especially giving info out yourselves , and thank you Wolfgg and Vermillion Haze for support anyone giving useful advice, answers, and info on the boards you are also considered for credit, I hope these guys have been helpful and I hope you enjoy the game and obtain 100% in the near future.
I'm glad that I read this, because I was seriously considering starting again after putting 5 hours into normal, but I really didn't want to be mad at the game the entire time because it was too difficult.
It's a shame that they couldn't get proper translation, because I know there are tons of fans out there that would be willing to work for cheap and for the sole purpose of just getting the game localized.
Well, even if levels reset, you can keep your Party Points apparently, so the best thing would be to not use any until you play on Hard. Once we figure out what carries over though it will be easier to make a strategy.
Yeah things like captured monsters(used to make the best weapons) the "books" for the true end and skills, and we don't really know for sure if weapons go over if you switch higher difficulties, things like that but most likely they do plus pp(which increase stats) the passive skills which are your stats for example Leon has 100K on strength can do over 3,000 damage on the first enemies even on hard which really helps make the game much easier , also if your already far in the game and aren't having much trouble with hard, you can probably keep going with it but its up to you.
Another thing folks to capture monsters you need the capture ability to get it you have to get it through the Tp store but there is another an easier way to obtain it before the end of the first generation the capture ability can be found the in the quest area Kaystros Mountains in the second screen in the top then right you should see it below you. Edit: Depends on what decisions you make at what time you go to the mountains check here _Generation for the path that lets go there the earliest if you so choose to, or by getting a certain title which involves making 20 item through the black smith.
And captured monsters do get carried over in the next generation so use that to your advantage for the next main character or characters to get a better creatures or to start your check list on made monsters, and of course to make the best weapons and trust me your gonna need those better weapons especially on hard difficulty. But forewarning we don't know as of yet if weapons get carried over when going to higher difficulties.
Now how to capture monsters is gonna be a little bit of a pain you need to buy Essential Arts 4 for 75 TP so you can purchase Merciful Strike for 2,000 G, 1 Double Edge, 1 Power Attack, 1 Rush, 1 Trick Hit, which also need 2 weapons for each of those arts, but if you use my easy money way link above you can get easy money and know how to get TP more easily, this is the only way to capturing monsters in the 1st Generation and on the other generations.
