Bumpingthis thread because my wife has just bought a used (ex rental) 2013 Edge Limited and the card with the Factory keyless entry code is missing. I see on this thread that, in past years, the code was on a sticker on the fuse box. I have read elswhere that this is no longer true for the 13's. Can anyone confirm if and where the code is physically located in a 2013 model?

I finally found my code, in the fuse box area, but you have to be a real contortionist to get at it and view. It was located way up near the top on the right hand side of the panel. It took a few tries to get it to work, I tried it initially via MFT but found it just easier to do on the key pad itself.

Brings me back to the days of my used 98 explorer with no keypad code. After removing plastic panel in cargo area and using a retractable little mirror to reach all the way back to the wheel well, I was able to read off one number at a time. They literally don't want you to find that number.

On the 16s a simple engine start/shut off with both fobs, one at a time inside the center console will cause the sync 3 screen to display the factory code. At least ford has realized what a pain getting a used car is to use this feature

Its impossible to erase the factory code or ever reprogram the factory code, you can only add codes. If you have myford touch then it's in your setup menu. If you don't and have basic sync, it's up under the dash where your left foot sits when your driving.

On my 2012 Edge Sport I removed the cover that hides the fuse panel by your left foot while in drivers seat. Once cover is removed it was on the upper right corner of the fuse panel. it was 5 digits with a letter at the end. hope this helps.

Yes, great of ford... but What of you only have 1 Key Fob... Not so good then, lol, also my 16 Fusion doesn't have a fuse box by my(Drivers) left foot!!! So... Now what??? Maybe the spare tire whell (hole) in the trunk?!?!?! I'm gonna look there next...

With that note I know why my car didn't come with its little wallet card... I bought it used after being a rental car... Not something you want renters to access either... I'm sorry for the interruption in your forum, this is definitely a post queation that will be forever asked and discussed...

in my 2020 Edge, there are instructions for showing the code on the display. i think there may be similar instructions in your owner's guide as well. i seem to recall similar instructions on my '09 and '16. you don't mention your model year.

The only other way is to pay a Ford dealer to extract the code for you from the car's system with their specialized equipment. The previous generation cars had a hidden sticker under the IP with the code. AFAIK, the 2013+ doesn't.

You can't just get another key. If you have only one key, it has to be to done by a Ford dealer. You need two existing coded keys to make a working key. An independent dealer won't be able to do this and they'll probably balk at paying for it but the car comes from the factory with two keys. You're entitled to both.

I asked them for it, they said they didn't have it. I assumed the car was previously reposessions or something and they never got the other key. Idk. But yes, I'm going to the actual ford dealer tomorrow to get this matter straightened out..I don't want any more dealings with the company I got the car from. They were horrible! I'd never go back there!

2) I would like to create/change the numerical door code on the driver side door. For that I need the 5 digit code that came on the card that I'm missing. The local dealership wants $170 for a reset. I've looked at a few videos on YT to see how to solve this. I don't have 2 keys by the way. On some other Ford cars/trucks, apparently the code is on a sticker inside the passenger side door or on a fuse box cover maybe. Anyway, an exact location for this would be helpful.

I see that this is an older post but thought I'd respond anyway. First, the manuals are available online on the Ford owner's support website at Ford Owner Manuals. For the autolock, the manual says it would be under Settings/Vehicle/Locks on the dash display. It also says that in some markets this feature may not be configurable, and thus the option would not show up.

For the keypad code, the manual states that you can obtain the code from your Ford dealer, with I assume proof of ownership. Not sure why they want to charger you $170 to reset it. I'm sure they can quickly read it using their computer scan tool. I have heard that some Fords had the code on a sticker on the engine computer, but not sure about Fusions. The manual also says you can display the code if you have two programmed keys, which of course you don't have. Might want to just splurge for another key if the dealer wants to charge you to get the code anyway. Here are the instructions from the manual using the keys:

2. Remove the rubber covering (A) from the cup holder. With the buttons facing upward and the unlock button facing the front of your vehicle, place the first intelligent access key into the backup slot (B).

Typically the vehicle comes with a 5-digit default factory code that can be reset by the owner of the vehicle. The owner can set the code sequence to whatever they want for added security and for the purpose of remembering in case of an emergency.

Often times, a used vehicle is sold and the entry code isn't given to the new owner. You can always resort to the default code, but if you don't remember it or have it written down then it won't do you any favors.

If the owner's manual is lost, you can find the factory code on the label of the Remote Anti-Theft (RAP) module. This is usually located on the left panel toward the back of your vehicle. This panel should be removable with a screwdriver.

Once you receive the signal, you can reset the code by entering your own personal five-digit code (within five seconds). The vehicle will lock and unlock once again as confirmation that your new code has been entered correctly.

If your factory code is nowhere to be found, you can always call your local Ford dealer or mechanic. If you go this route, it may be costly as the mechanic or specialist will have to hook up your vehicle to a computer to view the diagnostics.

Your VIN number is a single line of 17 numbers and letters without spacing. They also exclude the letters O, Q, and I, to avoid any confusion with the numbers one and zero. Each part of the VIN number provides you with specific information about your vehicle.

You can also find the VIN number by looking at your registration, insurance card, or vehicle title. However, the actual VIN number on your vehicle is the most tried and true since it cannot be altered.

If you are attempting to decode your VIN number by yourself, you can look up a VIN decoder online to help. These number usually read from left to right, and each digit will tell you specific information

Now you know how to figure out your Ford's keyless entry code by VIN number. Even if you aren't driving a vehicle with a keyless code entry option, at least you know the power that your VIN number holds.
