- [Instructor] In the upper right hand corner of the interface, under the Create button, are a couple of tools for automatically or semi-automatically making movies from your video clips. We're going to talk about video collage a little bit later in the course. With Instant Movie, you simply hand the program a batch of clips, select a theme, and it will make a movie for you. But with the new Video Story tool, you have a bit more control in the process. You provide the raw footage, and the Video Story tool will walk you through the process of turning that footage into a structured story. So let's select Video Story. Now, the first time you use Video Story, you get a little banner that kind of advertises Video Story. You have the option to skip or exit it. Click on that, you won't see that banner again when you use the program. You'll go directly to what I'm seeing right now, a category selection. So let's select a general category, and you see you have a number of templates and options, whether you're creating a video for a wedding, or a love story, or birthday parties, whatever. Let's select Travel Diaries and click on Get Started. Now, you notice it has a blue banner in the upper right hand corner. Any time you see a template or an effect that has a blue banner, it's telling you that the file has not yet, or the template has not yet been downloaded onto your computer. It's available out there at Adobe.com. All you need to do is select it, and the first time you select it, it will download and install, and you're have it forever more. And there it is downloading. Now, once our template is downloaded, we gather the media for our movie. I'm going to select Files and Folders, go out here to my assets, and just grab a bunch of them. I'm just going to hold down the Shift key, grab the first one, grab a bunch more. I could hold down the control or the command key on a Mac, grab a few more. You just want to gather all of them that you plan to use in your movie, and then click on Open. And now we have our story assets. Click next, and now we're going to turn those assets into a story, and as you can see, the templates help you do that because they actually give you little categories to gather your media in. So, we've got the title right here, the very first one, and then each of the chapters here, Meeting the Travelers, The Journey, Places We Visit. These are all editable, by the way, so it's not only applicable to traveling, but we can make it applicable to virtually any story we want to tell. The title templates, like this little chapter here, will only hold one video, so I'm just going to drag this video, and this is going to serve as the background for our title. The other chapters, we can grab several videos, and even still photos, and drag them in too, as many as you'd like in each chapter. So, we're trying to tell the story here, and we would build that out. If there's a chapter we don't want, we can just click on the little trash can here to delete it. And once we've gathered the assets for each of our chapters, we click on the Next button. And now we're going to take the individual chapters and we're going to make sense of them. As I said, the title chapters will only hold one video clip. We're calling this A Trip to Remember. I'm going to call it something else. And that is going to update on the template itself, so that my custom title will appear when I preview it. And, in fact, if I want to preview at any point, I just click the little preview button down here at the bottom of the panel. And here's a preview of my title. As you can see, it customized according to what I typed in, and it's even going to provide us some music. (rock music) Now, as I said, the story title chapters will only hold one video clip. On the other hand, when you go into the individual chapters, you have the option of adding several video clips. Once again, we can change the title that appears at the beginning. So we can call this one. And that's going to update. Each of these individual video clips, we can kind of customize too. If we click on the little star when we hover our mouse over it, this will open up the Smart Trim area, where we can select which part of the clip we'd like included, just by trimming an area. I want to use this segment only. And when I click Done, I go back into my movie. And I can do that with each of the individual clips. I can change their order, of course, by dragging them. I can change the mood. There, in fact, is a lot of customization I can do to the individual chapters. If I click on the cog here, I can add my own custom music, I can add filters to the video, et cetera. Click apply, and I would do that for each of the chapters in my movie, customizing it, changing the titles as necessary, and then arranging the order of the clips in each chapter to tell my story. When I'm done, I can preview my video, I can export it to my timeline, or I can go up here to Export and Share at the top right, click on that, and here I have the option of sharing the video to a device, or even sending it directly to Facebook, YouTube, or Vimeo. So, as I said, the Video Story tool sort of walks you through the process of turning that raw footage into a movie. Like Instant Movie, it adds its own magic automatically to the process, but with Video Story, you're actually building a story from your movie clips, a story that has some structure, and a logical beginning, middle, and end.
