 Baba

In 1969 after Baba dropped His body, one of the immediate concerns was over the maintenance of Avatar Meher Baba Trust and the Mandali in Meherabad. In Vijayawada the Late Sri Manikyala Rao garu and Sri Ragavulu garu used to collect money personally  from some families on a monthly basis. This was a regular process
where by in the first week of every month money was collected personally and then sent
as a lump sum amount to the trust.
Through their commitment this process went on regularly to until 1984 after
which funds were stopped being collected and sent for reasons unknown, per
haps due to significant amount of funding coming in from the West. Why I am mentioning this because some people may like to contribute but due to lack of time or convenience  they may not be able to give
All of us (including me) have always felt that money comes in from sources
such as richer and more developed countries in the West.  I came across the information that Avatar Meher Baba Trust is in dire requirement for funds and this is of grave concern to key members including our loving Bhauji. The reasons are unknown but I believe it is due to 2 reasons: One because of the economic downturn and secondly and probably more importantly, everybody thinks someone else sending the funds.

I understand that the Hyderabad center started collecting and sending  good amount of money for the past few months. Here is an opportunity for all of us, as part of the Bangalore center, send money  to the Trust,  .

In the love  and Service of Baba, I seek all of your help, so we can take some immediate
action on the above. I propose that every month we collect money from all
Baba Lovers who seek to help (within their means and no matter how much the
amount, they all add up). Once collected the money can be handed over to
Byramangala centre (by an appointed person / people) and the funds can then
be sent out from there to the Trust. I have proposed this in the Byramangala
meeting last Sunday and I understand that most of the  members are keen to extend help.

We realize that the logistics of this needs to be worked out and finalized
However I seek your help to respond to me if you will be keen to help on a
recurring basis consistently. Once we have a list of people who will like
to help we will have an appointed person contact you to provide further details on means of disbursement, collection etc. For those who prefer doing a
one time activity, the post dated cheques for the next 12 months are most
welcome
We will be doing this for Baba to show our gratitude (like thanksgiving to
Baba) for the constant blessings we are showered with.
In His Love and Service,
V.B.Geeta Jayaram,
Bangalore

Everyone can send their own monthly contributions also.  There is a minimum of $50. for this, and one must write a short cover letter explaining the donation.  I and my gurubhai Jerry enjoy doing this because we get a personal receipt--usually signed by the Chairman Bhau--and a small Baba photo card.  We like to send the the Trust, Firstly--the beneficiaries--because there are only two left and they are souls that Meher Baba personally indicated He wanted supported!  The balance goes to the Corpus Fund, anyway.  So though a group donation may be the answer for some--the satisfaction of the PERSONAL contact with the Trust is sin qua non (i.e. matchless) for this fortunate slave!
