awesome..
we are planning a contest on MeeGo . you could write a app in Qt -QML
for the device
and you could win n900 and other exciting prizes
there are certain rules though
1. you need to demo it on day 3
2. you will have to host your code where it can be freely downloaded and used
we will come up with a wish list soon but you could choose what you
want to write.
will post more details sooner

If you are able to demo it on a netbook or N900 running MeeGo, even better

This is cool stuff. This initiative is definitely going to pull some good crowd and help in MeeGo branding/marketing as well :)

But does anyone here (ofcourse nokia guys :) know about the agenda of MeeGo miniconf? What all MeeGo related stuff its going to cover. As of now there is no information available about this anywhere. Those who have not checked the schedule, this talk is scheduled on the very first day after lunch i.e 2 pm on 15 Dec.

Secondly I feel there is not enough fuzz created by this MeeGo miniconf by us. Mostly only the guys coming to FOSS.in knows about it. I wished it to be the other way round i.e MeeGo brand pulling the crowd to FOSS.in Lets spread some words about this event and yeah contest as well and make it a success.

My two cents :)

Organizers of the miniconf also let us know if we can be of any help in this.

The agenda on the first day is talks from Nokia folks about MeeGo in general and some specific components in MeeGo. The topics are planned and a schedule will be posted soon.
I would like to ask if the community has any opinions on what kind of MeeGo talks you would like to see on the first day? The talks are followed by hacking and demo sessions. Anybody is free to show their own demo for the session. Amit, any plans from your side?

About the buzz, yes, we need to spread the word. Rather than Nokia folks showcasing the stuff they do, it would be nice to see what others are doing with MeeGo. At the MeeGo Dublin conference, I know that were some folks from TI showcasing their hardware with MeeGo. Anyone from TI in this group interested to do something like that?

Cheers!
Sateesh

I'm interested in an introductory/hands-on session on how to setup and use OBS for MeeGo local builds.

Radha, if you can bring your Beagle(rev c4) board in the event then I can give a demo on MeeGo bring up on it :) I'm trying to get my hands on a Beagle-XM board from my company but can't promise that.

Thanks Radha. But I may need other accessories as well e.g self powered USB hub. USB keyboard and mouse. a DVI/HDMI capable monitor for display.

I convinced my people to get a pandaboard(1GHz dual core Cortex A-9) for the demo. But when I started building the rootfs for the board following http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/OMAP4_Panda and http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/OMAP4_Panda/private-demo I came to know that SGX is not yet publicly released for Pandaboard so there is only minimal X which is supported as of now. So I don't think it make any sense in doing the demo on Pandaboard. Let me know if people feel otherwise.

I may also get a beagle-xm(1GHz Cortex A-8) tomorrow for the demo purpose. Hopefully we may come up with something by 15th but I need some help. It would be of great help if someone can build the rootfs/kernel image on his/her machine following this wiki page http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/Meego_on_Beagleboard_from_scratch ? I couldn't do it in my office today because of proxy settings and my broadband connection at home is also down at the moment & tata indicom+ will take years to build it. Let me know if someone is up to the task.

I can get the whole kit, one qn though - do we need it all three days? Would it do to get it if it was, say for one day? ( Will have to dismantle my home PC setup and home ministry wouldn't be too happy, you see ;-) ) Let me know which days you would want it there.

Rootfs/ kernel - can get it done today at home. But would prefer someone else also take it up - just in case I don't get fully through.
