Followed
http://wiki.meego.com/ARM/N900/Install/Dual_Boot to dual boot Maemo and Meego on my N900. The process was fairly simple, thanks to all the good work that folks have put in.
My N900 boots up Meego fine - but it is terribly slow. Am not quite sure, but might be because of the SD card? The battery icon doesn't indicate the actual state of the battery and the signal strength icon doesn't show any strength - I can make calls though. The UI wasn't good either - all menu items had !! prefixed, there aren't multiple desktops and things as such.
Haven't checked if there are any videos of the process - will look out and report. If I can't find, I'll put up one.
I had planned to work on a simple application to begin with - Tringo (
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/tringo/) - the app allows an user to mark the beginning and end on a media file, and sets the section between the markers as the ring tone - the key factor being that no temporary files need be created. Will involve figuring out how to register for the incoming call event and launching a media player in an invisible mode to play the section of the file between the markers.
Garage at
meego.com (
www.meego.com/garage) is not ready yet - so used the maemo garage to host this app. Haven't made any progress on this app - but it'd be great to team up with someone and get this app done in our meet. Do let me know.
