Dear Meedan translators,

It is late at night, and I don't know if I can find the right words for this simple message.  I am writing to ask your help to join in a personal gesture of peace this Saturday, for Syria,  to spread the word to all who will join us, and to translate too.

Saturday, Sep. 21st is International Peace Day.  It is also the first deadline in the fragile Chemical Weapons disarmament agreement for Syria. 

On Saturday, please put a candle in your window to VOICE YOUR CRY FOR PEACE.  

Today, right now when you read my message please take a moment to reflect your light across the world.

My Rebuilding Alliance team and I worked hard to find a gentle way to do this. Instead of mapping crisis, we're using Ushahidi coding to give people everywhere a chance to take a stand for peace.

Will it matter?  It did during the Czech Velvet Revolution.   Your message could be the encouragement that someone needs to put down his gun.
