Dear Translators of Meedan Translations!

For some time now - too long - this marvelous group has been largely dormant, with only occasional updates and infrequent posts. In the meantime, we at Meedan have been busy on an amazing adventure that has seen us work with some amazing partners on some fantastic projects at the pioneering edge of digital journalism.

It’s with real pleasure, then, that we write today to tell you about something we’ve been working on for a little while that we think and hope you’ll really like. Bridge, our new platform for social translation of social media, takes the work we did with news.meedan and applies it to global social media.  Bridge lets people translate and annotate breaking news on social media and share those translations with the world. You can see a demo here: https://demo-bridge.meedan.com/demo/delights (username: demo, password: demo).

As we kickstart our work on Bridge, we’d love for you to join us on our journey! Right now we’d like to invite the iPhone users among you to download our app and start translating some of the hot topics on social media - in the past few weeks we’ve been translating some of #مصر_بتفرح, #قانون_مكافحه_الارهاب, and now we’re getting started on طلعت_ريحتكم#! (If there are other hashtags that we should be translating related to this topic, please let us know...) These are super early invites, and if you sign up you’ll be among the very first to use the as yet unreleased app - we’d love to know what you think!

If you have an iOS device (iPhone, iPod Touch, etc.) and would like to join, shoot me an email (t...@meedan.com) - we have a really quick beta tester application and we’ll get you going!

We recognize, of course, that some of you may no longer wish to receive updates from the social media translation geeks at Meedan, and though we’d hate to see you leave you’re welcome to unsubscribe  (Google makes it easy, see the screenshot below and hit “Leave this group” [sadface] ).

We do hope you’ll stick around! We’ll have a new group specifically for Bridge translators but we’ll also be reviving Meedan Translations as a space for our Arabic-language community.

We’re looking forward to reconnecting with you!

Tom + the Meedan team
