Battle Trainers from around the Globe
Trainer Isabellaneiva,
Want to be the very best? Battle and rank against Trainers from around the globe in the GO Battle League. For a limited time, there’s no need to walk to unlock the GO Battle League. You can also invite Good and Great Friends to Trainer Battles.
Tips for the GO Battle League
  1. Study up on your Pokémon types! Some Pokémon types are better or worse against other types, so it’s good to know which matchups are good or bad for your Pokémon.
  2. Switch your Pokémon if you’re at a disadvantage. If you send out a Pokémon that has a type disadvantage against your opponent’s Pokémon, consider tapping the icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the battle screen to switch in another Pokémon.
  3. Use your Protect Shields wisely, and trick your opponent into using theirs! Protect Shields are a limited-use way to prevent your Pokémon from taking damage from an opposing Pokémon’s Charged Attacks.
  4. Some Pokémon learn attacks that can cover their type weaknesses! Study up on different Pokémon’s movesets to see if there are any that you can use to your advantage.
  5. Save Charged Attacks by switching Pokémon. If your Pokémon has a Charged Attack ready when you switch it out, the next time you send it out that battle, you’ll be able to use the Charged Attack immediately!
Practice Battling with Team Leaders
Practice battling with the team leaders—Spark, Blanche, and Candela! To battle a team leader, open Pokémon GO, tap the Poké Ball icon, tap Battle, scroll to the bottom of the screen, and select one of the team leaders.
