Dear MedStats Group,
I am a public health master degree student.
I want to know which "Textbook on Biostatistics" in "the best and best suited for a beginner".
(Now I'm learning with This 10th edition of Biostatistics: A Foundation for Analysis in the Health Sciences by Wayne W. Daniel.)

I am not familiar with that book by Daniel, but the TOC looks pretty standard for an introductory biostatistics course.  Are you finding it unsatisfactory?  If so, what is it lacking?

I have been teaching a course where it is best to assume that many of the students remember nothing from any previous courses, as those courses may have been taken decades ago in some cases.  In addition to my own slides, I recommend to them The Cartoon Guide to Statistics and selected chapters from Biostatistics - The Bare Essentials (4th Ed.).  The former is not specifically geared to biostatistics, but it does cover many of the topics typically included in an introductory biostats class, and is (I think) very accessible for apprehensive beginners.  The latter is humorous in a way that many (but possibly not all) students appreciate.

HTH.

no mention of effect sizes in contents - seems to be heavily into —values
but that is very superficial on my part

Some good recommendations already. I also like Norman and Streiner's "Biostatistics: The Bare Essentials." The  "C.R.A.P. Detectors" sections alone are worth the price of the book!

I recommend “Medical Biostatistics” Third edition by  Prof. A Indrayan, for public health and medical students/professionals.

This is not only complete book on Bio-statistics, but also provides good practical examples with proper interpretation.

Medical Statistics A Guide to Data Analysis and Critical Appraisal
Jennifer Peat, Belinda Barton
is an easy to understand beginner book.
If you need a more technical book, I can recommend Fundamentals of Biostatistics
by Bernard Rosner.

It is an excellent book.  I read the draft for him, so I should know.
