TUESDAY 30th OCTOBER
STOPFORD COMMON ROOM
6.30pm
Brought to you by HOMED
As part of the Medsin Tuesday Night Talks Series - which aims to raise
awareness amongst students about different local & global health
issues
This talk is guaranteed to be
· Fascinating
· Informative
· Honest
The speaker Bridget is someone has been heavily involved with the
rehabiliation of several former addicts, some of whom will be there on
the night to talk to us.
She is highly qualified to advise us on what we, as doctors, can do to
really
help.
Some of the things advised in government guidelines may not be the
best
for the patient. For example, the prescription of methadone rarely
helps an
addict to come off heroin, it simply fuels their habit. Methadone
does however
prevent crime and protects users from drugs cut with nasty
substances.
Bridget, and the people she will bring along with her, can give us
honest opinions as to what really is the best option.
She will also talk to us about the various kinds of rehabiliation
schemes avaliable here in manchester.
We hope to see you all there. (refreshments are provided!)
