The senior action movie stars keep making movies and I think that audiences are beginning to question whether or not these old guys are just too old for the parts that they are playing. In this case, Sylvester Stallone is the main character.
I respect my elders, and these guys rule! However, if they keep making action films, I will probably keep waiting until those movies are released on DVD before I watch them. (Bruce Willis is the younger of the mentioned bunch, but can still be questionable.) There are always exceptions, but right off the bat, their old age is not working in their favor.
Stallone has had the right idea by bringing all of the old geezers together for his Expendables movies, but in this day and age, if there is one old headliner then it better be in the right movie.
Bullet to the Head is about a ruthless hit man (Sylvester Stallone) who goes on a rampage tracking down the men responsible for the murder of his partner in crime. He is a one-man wrecking ball out for revenge. Along the way, he teams up with a cop who happens to be tracking the same people.
The film was directed by Walter Hill and the rest of the noteworthy cast includes Sung Kang, Jason Momoa, Christian Slater, Jon Seda, Sarah Shahi, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Holt McCallany, and Brian Van Holt.
The movie very much deserves the R-rating as there is a lot of language, nudity, and very realistic blood and guts. There are in fact, many people that end up taking a bullet to the head and or the rest of their body.
Compared to The Last Stand and A Good Day to Die Hard, in my opinion, Bullet to the Head is the better film. Ironically it lost a lot more money than the other movies and it was probably the most underrated of the bunch. Stallone also gave a better performance than Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In New Orleans, hitman Jimmy Bobo and his partner Louis Blanchard eliminate a corrupt policeman, Hank Greely, although Bobo leaves Lola, a prostitute, alive. Later, at a bar, Blanchard and Bobo talk about their job that they've just done, Bobo tells them that he doesn't kill any women or children, a man named Keegan is watching Blanchard and Bobo, Bobo goes to the restroom, Keegan then goes up to Blanchard and spills some beer on him to distract him, he then pulls out a curved blade and stabs Blanchard two times in both sides, wounding him and killing him. Keegan enters the bathroom and then attempts to kill Bobo, but Bobo fights with him, Keegan fails and escapes when Bobo tries shooting him. Bobo swears to avenge Blanchard's death.
Detective Taylor Kwon arrives in New Orleans to investigate Greely's death and meets Lieutenant Lebreton (Dane Rhodes), who informs him Lola confirmed Greely was assassinated. Kwon goes to the morgue, and, after seeing Blanchard's body and finding out who he is, he deduces that Blanchard and Bobo killed Greely. Meanwhile, Keegan meets with his employer, Robert Morel, and Morel's lawyer Marcus Baptiste. Baptiste reveals that Greely tried to blackmail Morel, and provided local mobster Baby Jack (Douglas M. Griffin) with a file detailing Morel's illegal operations. Keegan later kills Baby Jack and his men and retrieves the file.
Kwon meets Bobo in a bar and informs him that he knows Bobo and Blanchard killed Greely. Bobo leaves, and when Kwon tries to follow him, he's attacked by corrupt cops who were ordered by Morel to prevent Kwon from further investigating about Greely. Bobo rescues Kwon and takes him to a tattoo parlor, where Bobo's daughter, Lisa, treats Kwon's wounds. They later go to a massage parlor where Bobo interrogates Ronnie Earl, the middleman who hired Bobo and Blanchard on Morel's behalf. Ronnie Earl tries to kill Bobo, but Bobo manages to kill him, although his gun jams. Bobo later confronts Kwon, who admits to having tampered with Bobo's gun, nearly causing his death. Bobo and Kwon agree to work together.
Bobo and Kwon kidnap Baptiste and take him to Bobo's house, where he is forced to give them a flash drive detailing Morel's plans to acquire housing projects and demolish them to build office buildings, Bobo asks Baptiste about Keegan, Baptiste explains to him that he's an ex mercernary, ex French Foreign Legion, Kwon then rips a flash drive from Marcus Baptiste's neck, Baptiste looks at both Bobo and Kwon saying "look, you stupid motherfuckers aren't going to get away with this, Keegan's going to punch your ticket and i'm going to be there and i'm going to watch, i'm going to have a front row fucking seat, you stupid sloping son of a bitch! Bobo gets pissed off, so he kills him with a shotgun bullet to the head, Kwon looks back at Bobo and says to him "are you fucking insane?! you just don't kill a guy like that, Bobo responds by showing him the gun and saying i just did, Keegan and his men trace Baptiste's cellphone to Bobo's house, but Bobo and Kwon are able to escape and detonate a bomb, killing Keegan's men. Keegan then becomes obsessed with killing Bobo.
Kwon meets with Lieutenant Lebreton to ask for him help, but Lebreton tries to kill him, as he is also on Morel's payroll, but Bobo kills him and saves Kwon. Meanwhile, Keegan learns about Lisa and kidnaps her. Morel then calls Bobo and offers to trade Lisa for the flash drive. Bobo agrees, and meets with Morel in an abandoned warehouse, where he delivers the flash drive to him and rescues Lisa, while Kwon infiltrates the building to arrest Morel. Keegan becomes furious when Bobo is allowed to leave and kills Morel and his men before going after Bobo.
Keegan confronts Bobo and they have an axe fight, which ends with Keegan cutting Bobo's axe in half, Bobo uses this distraction to stab Keegan in the foot with the broken axe, Keegan yells in pain "ow, Fuck! God! He stabs Keegan in the throat with Louis Blanchard's knife, Keegan pulls the knife out of his throat and is about to kill Bobo, but Kwon appears and shoots Keegan in the head two times, avenging Blanchard's death, saving Bobo and killing Keegan. Kwon retrieves the flash drive and Bobo shoots him in the shoulder to make it appear as if Kwon failed to capture him. Lisa decides to stay with Kwon, with whom she initiates a romantic relationship, and Bobo leaves. He later meets Kwon at a bar, where Kwon tells him he did not mention Bobo's existence to the police this time, but if Bobo continues in the business, Kwon will take him down. Bobo welcomes him to try and drives off into the night.
William Lawlis Pace died in California this week. He holds the record for the person alive the longest with a bullet in his head. Back in 1917, his brother accidentally shot him with a rifle. Doctors left the bullet in place, feeling it would do more damage to remove it.
STEVE INSKEEP, HOST: Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. William Lawlis Pace has died in California, but lived to age 103. Along the way, he set a Guinness World Record for longest time alive with a bullet in his head. Back in 1917, his brother accidentally shot him with a .22-caliber rifle. Doctors left the bullet in place, feeling it would do more damage to remove it. And Mr. Pace kept it for more than 90 years, setting the record for unwanted cranial ammunition acquisition. It's MORNING EDITION.
The Improved Thunder Thighs Hopper was my go-to hopper pattern last summer in sizes 8-14 in tan, goldenrod, and flesh. As the summer went on, this hopper seemed to fish better and better. The realistic silhouette of this grasshopper pattern with its thick foam/rubber legs, bullet-head, large eyes and flashy wing seemed to trigger trout consistently throughout the summer, even in low, clear, late summer conditions. The realistic legs on this pattern set this terrestrial apart from most other hoppers. I also used this fly as part of a hopper/dropper setup with great results. The fly seemed to always land upright and supported heavy tungsten bead-head copper johns 0r pheasant-tails without a problem. This fly also works great with a thick poly-wing substituted for the thin foam-wing. The poly-wing aids in floatation and visibility making this a must-have pattern when fishing from a drift boat.
Legs: Thinly sliced two-tone foam, super-flex material. You can knot on any rubber leg material. The super-flex material is very durable and stays knotted to the foam strip with a simple over-hand knot.
Step 2: Prepare a 4mm thick piece of foam body. Taper end as shown. Size of foam body should be about gap of hook in width, and twice the length of hook. Above, I have a pre-cut, two-tone cocoa/tan body (size medium) that is about 2 inches long.
Step 9: Advance thread forward, on hook only, 1/2 the distance between hook-eye and body segment as pictured above. Try not to get too close to the hook eye because the rest of the hopper is tied in at this point.
Step 17: Fold foam body over the small strip of black foam as shown above. Here we are forming the bullet-head of the hopper. Notice how the fold of foam extends beyond the eye of the hook.
Step 19: Trim butts of body flush, as pictured above. Next, trim black foam strips flush with the head of the hopper to form the eyes. You can also leave the eyes a little long for a more dramatic effect.
Step 21: Thunder Thighs. Trim a thin strip of two-tone foam. Next, cut strips of foam at angle, like the angle pictured above. Tie an over-hand knot in rubber material, insert pointed end of foam strip in over-hand knot and tighten rubber material around the foam strip. For more detailed instructions on making these foam legs go to the original Thunder Thighs tutorial, steps 10-14.
