Open source vs closed source media-server

Hi, I'm trying to understand the media server, and it's capabilities. It's an impressive piece of work.

I've noticed in the groups, that there is mention of a closed source version of the media server. (2018)

Is that still the case?

What would functions and features would I get with the closed source media server that are not inside the open source media server??
