Good morning All,

I have been getting run around between Meditech and IMO. Meditech is giving us bundle priority pack for our MU attestation and we need to test DTS before 01/01/14.

Can some one guide me as to who provides a site with SNOW MED File? Is it Meditech or IMO?

I will really appreciate any feed back.

We first loaded our problem list with a load from UMLS, it is free, but you have to register.  Now that we are working on mapping iMO, we have asked if we need to continue to take UMLS loads, and were told until IMO is live we do.

Hello All,

I have a document “5.66 Enhancements Meditech Magic” for the Problem List on Meditech’s website.

Page 58 states:

If you choose to contract with IMO, the problem list content resides on the IMO appliance and there is no need to maintain the content in the Medical Problems dictionary.  However, it will be important that you reconcile the MIS Medical Problems dictionary to the IMO appliance prior to going Live.

The concept is that IMO is a vendor created vocabulary that then maps to ICD 9, ICD 10, and SNOMED codes in the background.  The mapping in the background may result in varying or constant coding, depending on the term. For instance, there are different IMO terms for various iterations of "ankle sprain:"

Term

IMO code

ICD-9

ICD-10

SNOMED

Ankle sprain

233469

845.00

S93.409A

44465007

Ankle sprain, left, initial encounter

946149

845.00

S93.402A

44465007

Grade 3 ankle sprain, left, initial encounter

1074842

845.00

S93.402A

609495006 (child of 44465007)

Notice that the ICD-9 code is constant. The ICD-10 code is the same in the 2nd and 3rd IMO terms but different in the first.  The SNOMED code is the same in the first 2 but changes with the third.  This makes sense because the the differences between the first 2 are laterality and billing issues.  The difference between the last 2 is a clinical concept.

The overall goal is to give the clinician the ability to enter a diagnosis without having to know the nuances of these complex coding schemes.
