Good Morning,
We have an ongoing issue in our facility, and we seem to have hit an impasse with nursing. I was hoping to get some input from other facilities to see how you are handling these issues and if you have the same processes in place. In the event that a patient is departed in error in the EDM, who do you give access to the ADM options to “UNDO” a discharge? We currently only allow the IS staff to UNDO a Discharge. Due to the fact that this process has several steps involved and not handled correctly you could potentially remove the patient completely. My other thought on not giving this out to just anyone, is there is a particular sequence of events that occur in the admitting module, based on what the problem is. For instance, if you made the patient an inpatient and they should have been an Observation, there is a different process to handle that correction. My fear is that this UNDO ability will get used for many other things that it should not be used for. During our initial install and thru several other installs, I remember being told from various Meditech staffers, do not give out this access without understanding what the consequences are.
We are a Magic 5.64 facility, and would appreciate any input from others who have met this same resistance.

You used to be able to take out the date and time in the enter edit departure routine in admissions and this would undo the departure.
Thanks Doug

Our Registration staff have access in the ADM Module to undo the discharge from ED, All they have to do is take out the date of discharge to undo and the nurse can continue documenting on them.
Thanks

Good Morning,
If you remove the Departure Date in the Enter/Edit Emergency Room Departure routine, you are immediately presented with a Yes/No Confirmation popup that asks if you want to Undo the ER Departure, so I believe it’s really the same process (Magic 5.64).
