I have a magic report that I want to download automatically to a text
file. The report itself works the way I want, but where can I find the
steps on how to send it to an ftp server? I have an ftp server running
and have user name & password, etc... I did find the ftp dictionary in
magic and I setup my ftp server ip in the ftp dictionary. But I can not
find in Meditech how to send the report to the ftp server. Seems like
there should be an article on this.

Thanks,

Do you have a spool group setup for the ftp? You have to set it up and schedule the report to run to that spool group.

How to schedule and send reports automatically via FTP

Use the following steps to schedule and send reports automatically via
FTP.

1. Set up a FTP Remote Host in the Enter/Edit FTP Remote Hosts routine
in MIS or choose an already existing Remote Host. This routine is on
the FTP Menu off the MIS Spooling Menu.

2. Set up a Spool Group in MIS with the Group Type set to FTP. The
Printer Type should be ALL. Select an FTP Mnemonic which will be the
FTP Remote Host. Also select a FTP Data Type. For more information on
the data type please see the on-line documentation. You will not select
purge settings as FTP files purge in the same manner as fax spool files.

3. Schedule your report like you would with any other scheduled report
using the MIS Report Scheduler feature. When in Enter/Edit Report
Schedule enter the FTP type Spool Group at the Spool Group prompt.

When the scheduled report runs it will create a Spool File which is put
on the Print List for the FTP type Spool Group where it is automatically
FTP'd to the Remote Host associated with the Spool Group.

* You can check the results of this process with the Auto FTP Activity
Log, also found on the FTP Menu.
* See Knowledge Base article #11606 for info on setting up FTP
* Individual Spool Files can be sent via the Copy Spool File To FTP
Index and Send routine.

I know this information has been sent out before but I cannot find it at
the moment.

If you do a KB search for FTP under the MIS application, you get the
following KB articles which in combination contains all the information
you need.

- First you need to create a FTP Remote Host:
Go to MIS FTP Menu-> Enter/Edit FTP Remote Host. You would need the IP address, username and password where you want to send your file.
- Second you need to create FTP spool group:
Go to MIS Spool Dictionary Menu -> Enter/Edit Spool Group. Select FTP as Group Type. Enter the mnemonic of FTP remote host from above as FTP mnemonic. Printer type is ALL and FTP Data type is TEXT.
- In the footnote of your NPR report type AL START "something"_@.today_"_"_@.now_".txt"^/ZFTP.TITLE.
- Schedule your report and use the above spool group.

Hope this help.
