Help,
we are converting to the Meditech OPS version in Magic of 4.17, BUT we
have huge issues with the color of 4.17. Yes, I could change my color
scheme on my desktop to pick a more favorable color, BUT our end users
are locked down and do not have the ability/permission to change a color
scheme.
I would guess that some of you folks have dealt with this issue
already. If so, how? What setting would be good for that version of
Meditech and not adversely affect other applications?

Please and thank you,

Some of our users opted not to upgrade for now with the caveat that they will have to whenever their situation requires it and that they may not get to choose their colors.

Tough...basically was the answer.

Thanks! :-)

I have worked with MT software for 18 yrs now and have never changed the
default colors.

Now maybe some other 3rd party software has an issue with the default
colors, but I have not run into that issue yet?

We didn't have a conflict with other software so much as people liked the old colors and didn't want to use the new ones. That pretty much explains why, beyond still giving them access to the older version, we did not go out of our way to change anything.

Any new employees since the upgrade only get NUI.

In my previous life, I was able to, and did, change the colors so there was no question whether I was in TEST or LIVE. When I came here, the only option was NUI (except for some scripting). It was a difficult transition at first, and there are times when a numeric menu would be helpful, but I've adapted. Users are not given an option, and the default for all users is the Windows Default.

The last time I looked, the unemployment rate in my area was pushing
15%.
I wish the biggest thing I had to worry about was the colors of my NUI.

Come on, people, get a grip...

Pretty much? They can deal with it.

I have, in some cases, used it as a carrot for certain departments &
users to convert to iconic menus rather than continuing to use numeric
menus. The icons have color. One user asked that anything dealing with
charges or money use the icon that is a little pink piggy bank with a
green dollar bill.

Otherwise? It's gray. Period.

Awwww. Looks like someone has a case of the Mundays. Don't worry your newly
elected Messiah will fix it.

I think it is a valid question for the L, seeing as it deals with Meditech.

Your response however, is slightly less on-topic.

Ruth we actually do allow users access to the desktop. They can change colors and screen
savers (that was one of our bigger problems as some screen savers lockup the machines) but not
much else.

We provide the users with a basic instruction on how to change the scheme to make it usable.
Yes we have had a few change the text and background to the same color so text was invisible.
This is what we have told our users:

The areas that need to be changed in windows Advanced Appearence
to make the screens legible are:
Menu: This is the background for most CDSs I have a light green
Window: This is the Text area for most CDSs. Mine is light gray.

Yes I have had to change it for one or two users... after the first two weeks I never heard
from anyone again.

I have heard of some places changing the default to a more pleasing eye restful color scheme
as a standard when they have the machines totally locked down. This might work for you.
