Hi,

I would like to hear some experiences of sites using the I-People Direct
product. It would be especially helpful if there were Canadian or even
Ontario sites using it.

Thanks,
Cory

Sorry not Canadian or Ontario, hope you hear from those sites, but we love it. Great training and support of the product, user friendly but users still need to be trained on MEDITECH DPMs and how they work. Easier to build reports than MEDITECH NPR. It works great with Crystal, MS Access and it's great for creating MS Spreadsheets.

All this is true, very easy to use, the MS Excel connection is great. Especially for reports with date references because the end user (manager, supervisor) puts in a new date range and gets new data on the fly with graphs and all the fun stuff Excel can do with the data.

Cory,

Although we're not a facility, we are a Business Intelligence product and
consulting firm from St. Catharines Ontario. We specialize in
MEDITECH-based facility systems and use iDirect as one of our extract tool
options for our reporting solutions for Canadian and U.S. facilities.

We've utilized iDirect in Toronto area hospitals to provide web-based
patient and financial reports, digital dashboards and various data sets
(department, facility, regional, integration with other systems, etc.).

I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for about iDirect. If I can be of
any help, or would like to talk to a facility that I've worked with about
their usage of iDirect, I'd be happy to help in any way I can.

Let me know a good time to call (or give me a call at your convenience) at
905-704-1356.

Thanks!

Gmc

Cory,
We have used I-People Direct for over 3 years now and I think the
product is fantastic. Even if you use the product only for looking at
Meditech's raw data I think it is worth its cost. I would not consider
it a replacement for an NPR report writer (though it can be) as most
clinical people on the floor do not like using separate applications to
get information, but it is a great add on to what you can do with NPR.
Direct lets you do many things that you cannot do with NPR such as
comparing your LIVE and TEST environments. Most of the reports that I
have used Direct for are financial or administrative type reports that
are much easier to create using Direct (CFO types love seeing an auto
updating Excel spreadsheets with current info) than using NPR.

As you can tell, I highly endorse this product and I-People is my
favorite vendor that work with. Feel free to call me if you have any
specific questions.

Thanks,

Hi, we currently have an attribute at the OE procedure
level to default responses from one procedure to
another (e.g. for multiple RAD procedures).

We are now at the point of building EDM and would like
to build a similar attribute. Has anyone done this
already? Below is our current OE attribute.

DFT=/Z.DFT
@OE.PAT.patient,@t.OE.INP.category,"OE.RAD"]
FCL1=IF{@.response^/Z.DFT[@OE.PAT.patient,@t.OE.INP.category,"OE.RAD"]
1;1}

Thanks

Debbie

We are not Canadian but I will chime in anyway. We are one of the first 5 to purchase IPeople Direct and it is one of the best IT investments we have made.

We use IPeople Direct for in a number of ways. We use if for ad hoc queries. We have Excel spreadsheets and Access databases for small groups of users to retrieve data. We also have built a lot of our intranet/Business Intelligence applications using IPeople Direct. We also use it for interfaces and have built some small data marts.

Before IPeople Direct we were considering buying a DR to get the data we now get from IPeople Direct. But Ipeople Direct is lower cost than DR and there is much less administrative work.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Cory,

We are a 160 bed hospital in Kitchener, Ontario. I use Direct a lot
(practically daily) and I would be happy to share my experience with
you.

We've actually used another product with similar functionality and found
Ipeople's to be generally superior and much easier to use. As far as I
know, Direct is the only Meditech ODBC driver that supports standard
SQL. The other product we tried required a combination of SQL and Magic
code - very messy! It also needed to be told what server to look at to
find the application we were querying. This was not only inconvenient,
but limited our ability to query across applications. Direct knows
exactly where to look because it's customized to your site.

Direct really feels like a true ODBC driver. You can use it just like
any other ODBC connection. They even have documentation on how to build
.NET applications using Direct to pull data straight out of Meditech. If
you use it in conjuction with SQL Server, you will find there is
practically no limit to what you can do with your Meditech data. At the
San Diego MUSE, I attended Ipeople's session on building a data
repository in which they explained how to use the ODBC connection to
create a SQL Server copy of a complete set of Meditech databases and
keep it updated.

IPeople's support is excellent also. They've always been very helpful
and are keen to assist clients in getting the most out of this product.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
