How is your site handling 24 hour chart checks with eMAR?
We are researching to find the best way to do this without a paper MAR
from the previous day to compare to...

Set EMAR Acknowledgement as required prior to administration. When
performing the 24 hour check, the nurse re-acknowledges all med orders since
the last 24 hour stamp in the chart and assures that all orders on the
patient are acknowledged.

Sorting the EMAR by start date places new orders at the top. You may also
sort by acknowledgement instead of scrolling to find unacknowledged entries.

Alternatively, the nurse performing the 24 hour check can simply check to
see that all meds are acknowledged without going through the
re-acknowledgement routines, but this carries less accountability.

There is no need to compare one days MAR against the previous day since meds
will lose the acknowledgement indicator when pharmacy changes the order. Any
changes not acknowledged during the day will be caught during the 24 hour
check.

Cheers,
Becky
