I am curious what other facilities have their Meditech 'time-out' set
at? We have our set at 15 minutes and we are receiving many complaints
form our providers. I appreciate any feedback from others as to what
your time out is set at and if that is acceptable to your end users
(providers especially).

Thank you!

We are set at 30 minutes because of provider complaints. I really wish
Meditech would find a way to allow us to set time out for some
workstations to be less than the default. I don't want a laptop in a
corridor or patient room to stay logged in for 30 minutes when some one
walks away from it. We do train staff to log out when they walk away,
but I don't believe that it happens all the time.

In the good 'ole days, each menu had it's own timeout setting.

Our timeout is set to 10 minutes, but the staff can extend it to 30 minutes if they suspend their session.

Our settings are as follows: after 1 hour, the session minimizes. After another hour, the session ends. We have had good response to this, and no major issues related to security audits with this setting.

We have ours set to minimize to a password in 12 minutes and have the
halt suspended session parameter set to 479 minutes (8 hours). We had
complaints from users, especially physicians, if the session ended. So
we pushed the envelope on the halt parameter but left the minimize to a
password fairly short to address security concerns.

We have had an issue with the sessions halting prior to our parameter
since we took the 5.64 update last fall and have moved a number of
changes in to fix that. Meditech has a default 60 minute halt session
buried in the code that kept overriding our longer parameter. We still
have some reports of sessions closing unexpectedly that we are trying to
track down but it is better.
