The Eaton Rapids Medical Center Patient Safety Task Force (PSTF) and its
subcommittees have discussed the dissatisfaction and patient safety issues
of our hardcopy Laboratory report many times during the past few years. We
have determined that despite our best efforts, we have been unable to create
an appropriately simple, safe, and yet, comprehensive form that meets the
needs of our staff, internal and external physicians, and our inpatient and
outpatient populations. The PSTF proposes, through this formal request, to
use the Quality Improvement Committee as a vehicle to oversee the
development of this form, and also requests this project be adopted as a
primary priority for the committee until which time the project is completed
satisfactorily.

The Goal Statement is as follows: To create a hardcopy Patient laboratory
result report that includes historical data which is easier to read and
interpret results.

We are Critical Access hospital which was express installed July 2004. We
are presently running Meditech Magic 5.61. Although we encourage our
in-house physicians to use PCI, the focus of this report is our many
referring physicians. We are asking for example reports from any hospitals
willing to share. The most cumbersome problem is the footnoting which
occurs with notes when printing the most recent result with 4 previous for
comparison. Any assistance you could provide would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,

Eaton Rapids Medical Center

Good Morning -

Something happened to one of my external Lab reports so that I cannot get the right footnote on the report with the perform Lab site name and address.

If it's offsite the footnote works, but I can't seem to get the Lab's name and address to appear for our ML. How are you getting your inhouse lab name and
address just like the offsite footnote prints?

So simple but I can't get it.

Thanks,
Maura

We have our ML address written into the NPR header at the top of page .
e.g. In ther Report Format dictionary:
Page Header LAB.C.RB.zcus.abc.page.hdr.doc.comp.R
In the Reports Dictionary:
The footnotes for offsite labs only show on reports if the performing location is different from where the report is pulled up.
Off Site Note?
If you want the system to generate an off site footnote
for the results of all tests performed at a site with a
code other than the one associated with the primary
site, enter Y. Otherwise, enter N.

So other sites have a different header fragment, which shows if report pulled from that location.

Hi Maura:

Maybe you need the DTS below? We had similar trouble and this is
supposed to fix, but I haven't tested yet...

************************************************************************
*************
DTS: LAB #14368
Description: LIS: Correct lab sites used when printing lab site specific
broadcast
Release: 5.5
5.6 - #1306

Previously in LAB, when you defined different performing sites for two
different tests and defined different reports for each of these lab
sites in
the LIS Lab Site Dictionary, if you ordered and resulted the tests above
at a
priority defined to autobroadcast for a patient with a location that had
a
Broadcast Device defined, then the system did not always use the correct
report
format for its lab site when printing a broadcast report.

This has been corrected. When you define different performing sites for
two
different tests and define different reports for each of these lab sites
in the
LIS Lab Site Dictionary, if you order and result the tests above at a
priority
defined to autobroadcast for a patient with a location that has a
Broadcast
Device defined, now the system uses the correct report format for its
lab site
when printing a broadcast report.
