We are in the process of setting up a urgent care clinic and are planning on using the EDM module of Meditech (C/S 5.67).  Question is – for those of you who have urgent care clinics using Meditech, did you set them up as their own facility/location/ED location or did you build them as a location under your main hospital facility?  Any help is appreciated.

We have our urgent care setup as an outpt location and EDM location under our main hospital facility. We use EDM but use a prefix to indicate all of their treatments, room etc as needed in the EDM dictionaries. We are 5.67 Magic

Hello Kelly,

We set up our urgent care as an outpatient location separate from our ED under our main hospital facility.  Instead of the ED tracker, providers use the PWM outpatient status board to see their urgent care patients.  Nursing uses the PCS status board for the location Urgent Care.

Thank you, Annie

For a slightly different twist (other than being Magic) we have a free standing ED about 8 miles from the main hospital.  We used the EDM module to build out their tracker/orders/triage/docum etc……..

What is nice about this is, either site can choose a tracker that will show either site or a combination.  Especially nice when the free standing needs to transfer the patient to the hospital.

Thank you!

Lu
