[MT-L] CS 5.64 Question regarding patient type ER to SDC

How do you handle the following situation:

1. Patient registered as ER and seen there

2. Determined need to go to surgery

3. What do you do with the patient type? SDC, OBS, Inpt?

Our issue is- sometimes we do not know when sending to surgery from the
ER if the physician will keep the patient after and if so if
obs/inpatient.

We use the same account and register it as an SDC. If they need
extended observation post-op, they could stay as an SDC and be placed in
a bed on our clinical decision unit or be registered as an observation
patient on the CDU.

We also convert the visit to SDC. If, after the procedure is complete, the doctor determines the pt needs to be moved to INo, then that's the next change. Could become IN if the criteria is met. The same visit number is retained for the patients' stay.
