Just wondering if anyone is having issues with demo recall in ADM in
general? Currently, we have several depts and users who pre-register or
register patient accounts and we are experiencing issues with the wrong
info demo recalling based on how the registrar answered the question.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get a handle on multiple users
that register or any good tidbits?

Thanks,

We're having the same problem on our patients that come in and get preregistered for eye surgeries. We were thinking it had something to do with the fact that demo recall is only kept on the most recent visit. So if they enter in a future visit say for the other eye, then demo recall is not updating that visit. I haven't been able to prove that theory yet, but if others out there have experienced the same problem and have figured out how to deal with it, please share what you did.

Beth,

We have had this issue since upgrading to 5.61.

Here is what we have determined. Patient is pre-registered for a future
visit. Sometime prior to scheduled visit, patient registered for, let's
say, lab work. A couple of days prior to patients scheduled visit, a
registrar calls to pre-reg over phone. Updates pre-reg visit with new
information and files. Patient comes in day of appointment, registrar
registers pre-reg appt, choosing Y for pull most recent demo recall info and
no information from pre-reg call was retained. This happens in both TEST
and LIVE 5.61, however when I test in our TEST 5.5 this is not how it
worked.

Meditech is able to reproduce, first programmer stated working as designed,
but I refused to accept that based on several different scenarios. And
works fine in 5.5 TEST. Escalated with no results so far.

Would be interested if anyone has a DTS or fix for this as well.

Thanks,

Good morning,

I was about to write in on this exact matter! I have been working with Meditech for around 2 years now and from what I understand this has always been an issue. We are Magic 5.5 and from all of the reading that I have done it is described that demo recall pulls the data from the most recent visit. So the information that is documented files to the MRI if it is filed on the most recent visit. If it is a visit that is not the most recent then the information is stored in ADM but not the MRI hence the recall of outdated data.

We have been using demo recall for years and had small issues with weight, for example. Now that we are trying to move to more outpatient clinics this functionality is becoming a risk issue. For example, we have a home medication screen that we use across visits. When the patient is registered they are registered for their pre-surgical screening (PSS) appointment and for their OR at the same time. PSS documents all of the medications and on the day of the OR that information is not the information that is pulled forward because it was not the most recent visit. This is now resulting in the nurse having to re-enter all medications, which is time consuming and is leading to a mistrust of the system.

My understanding is that in Client Server, demo recall pulls the most recently filed data regardless of the visit. Does anyone know of a fix in Magic or would this be a custom???

We have the same type of issue. Our Medication Reconciliation screens
(Homemeds) are documented in NUR. If we set the NUR screen to default in
queries, it will always pull in the last instance of that screen being
documented, not the last visit that was documented on a screen with the
same queries. Meditech has told me...functioning as designed> That is
why we are looking at using zRXM for Med Recon.
Good Luck

We set up our discharge instructions intervention and do not allow the
home med queries to be recalled. The caregiver must retype the most
accurate list of meds on discharge per the doctor's written orders.

Then upon the next hospital visit, the home med queries are allowed to
be recalled from the last discharge. We have found this to work better
for us.

We are Magic 5.53.
Just recently I did some extensive testing of Demo recall in hopes of
understanding it better and being able to explain it to our ADM staff.
Demo Recall can be a bit complicated and confusing. I created a
document (attached) with some notes on demo recall and the MRV (most
recent visit) that I observed in my testing along with a couple articles
from Meditech that help explain how DR is supposed to work. Don't take
this document as gospel but it may give someone some insight and help a
little.

Steve, I didn't get the attachment, can you re-send? We are currently
having trouble with demo recall queries being addressed in the EMD
Triage Assessment and for some reason, on Friday of last week, they
stopped populating in the OE Patient Data routine and the PDI Med Rec
application. They are getting filled as "Null" in ADM and there is no
explanation to date. Thanks!

Our site is C/S and we have the same issue. We can't even get the
correct information from Demo Recall to pull onto a brand new
registration. We have tried and tried to set up conference calls to no
avail. I don't know of this functionality of pulling the most recently
filed data. We use this on our resistant organism screens across
clinics and hospitals and are having serious issues.

While I am interested in looking at the information that didn't come across earlier from Steve, here are some things about demo recall that I believe to be true:

1. Demo Recall simply makes the data available in ADM.PAT on the queries in question available on the next admission, it does not change how the information gets into ADM.PAT.
2. When a query is filed blank, nothing is passed to ADM.PAT regarding that instance of documentation for that query. So, if you are pulling information from @p.ADM.PAT.ccdqr.response["myquery"], you will be pulling the last actual value that was filed, not the last instance of documentation that was blank.

There are several Meditech Knowledge Base articles regarding Demo
Recall. Search the Knowledge Base for ALL applications and
Title/Summary search on DEMO and RECALL -- there are 77 articles.

I found KB 14679 to be very informative.
