Good Morning,

We have one PC (windows 7) that does not pop-up the print dialog box for the user to select printer, preview etc..

Per MT instructions I have cleared the cache, uninstalled and reinstalled MT onto the machine to no avail.

Users are not restricted in MIS.  I am at a loss, and I think MT is also.  We need to get this up and running

For our users soon.  Any ideas or suggestions? Funny thing is it used to work fine, I don’t know what changed or got corrupted.

Thanks

Diane

I’ve had something similar happen with a specific Meditech routine on all PCs that accessed it.  It worked perfectly during all testing, worked in Live for several months and then suddenly stopped.

In my case, a report that is associated with electronic remittances automatically printed when the remit was imported.  The report printed to the local printer on any PC.  One day, it would no longer print from any PC and we didn’t get any kind of error message.  This was happening in live and test.  The print dialog box did pop up and the work-around was to print to preview and then print, which worked.

It took Meditech months to research this and even discover how this routine works.  Eventually they gave us DTS 6110, which has to do with the prefix remaining open and the next process accessing the temp file causing a crash.

I don’t know if this will relate to your issue or not, but maybe it will be helpful somehow.  J

Diane,

I had a similar issue involving a user and only one device.  The user had turned off the “Show Print Destination Screen” under Preferences on the right of the Print Destination window.  When I emulated her, this preference seemed to be checked.  She was able to restore the preference by MIS > My Settings > Set Print Preferences > recheck the Show Print Destination Screen.

Hope that helps.

Thanks,

Has anyone launched 6.0 without some type of printer problems? Ours are related to scheduling reports & OM orders, both of which seem to not like printing to the same printers we’ve extensively tested for on-demand printing. Related to having the printer name very consistently and narrowly associated in your print servers with the same IP, and some other low-level adjustments. We “seem” to be getting through it, one printer at a time. I feel for the hospitals with a fleet of 2000 printers…We just went live with 6.x last Sunday (and externally hosted at Dell MSite). Fun!

We've had issues with PHA labels.. Random intermittent labels missing, 2 labels converging into 1, labels with mismatched drugs and patients (that is the scariest scenario!).  when we reprint the labels, they are perfect. its the first print where there are issues. Anyone else had this? We've changed printer drivers, had some DTSs put in but still no resolution. We are 6.06 pp4 and also MSITE.

I had great challenges with labels in ADM, PHA, and LAB. Partly because we had to go down to the control code levels for rewriting our Magic NPR label programs that printed to our Datamax. (Next year, maybe I’ll start the switch to Zebras, though it’s the same deal.) However, the multitude of issues I had with PHA, well, none match your experience. Is the first label in-stream, and the next on-demand? I did have different experiences for awhile. Meditech seems to deal quite differently with the in-stream ones (and not just the selection page of urn EQ /urn) than how it handles on-demand reports & labels. Not much of an answer, but at least you got sympathy from me!

We did not have any printing problems with Go Live of 6.0. We did have an issue with print screens being blank about 3-6 months ago but there was an update to the document manager that resolved this. Thanks Doug

Hi Diane,

This is only a possibility to check but each user on each PC can select an option so the Print box does not show up.  It can be turned back on by the user if you give them the routine.  It can only be done by the user unless you remote control into their session and do it for them.  They will need to have the Set Print Preferences routine enabled in either case.

During our implementations we quickly realized that this routine was beneficial for all users who can print to have enabled.

The standard path to it is Info Systems - MIS - My Settings and the routine is Set Print Preferences.  The program name is MisPrintPref.SetPrintPreferences.

Users can uncheck the Show Print Destination box on the normal Printer select screen so they don't need to have this routine in order to shut it off but do need it to turn it back on.  Meditech should have been able to provide this as a possible fix unless I am mis-understanding the issue.

Thanks
