We are Client Server 5.67 pp21. We have this instrument in Bacti since 2014.

We are having some technical difficulties getting it connected to Meditech.

Does anyone have this instrument interfaced who could tell us if the machine is acting as the host or if

Meditech is acting as the host ( vs Client) ?

Our network connects to a computer, and from the computer there is a cable that goes to the instrument.

Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated.

We are 5.66 PP8 and have this instrument.  It has been awhile since I set it up but I would be glad to dig thru documentation and look thru my dictionaries if you want to give me a call. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are best for me.  As far as the next two days, mornings are better.

We are Meditech 6.08

Our GX Cepheid is used for MRSA,CTNG, etc. We set this up under the LAB instruments NOT in Microbiology.

We have this interfaced since 2014, no issues so far.

Gene X acts as the server.

I have this in my Notes (cause I get confused when is meditech considered a server or host):

You can tell by checking the device dictionary.  If there is no network name/ip address then Meditech is the server.  If there is a network name/ip address, then it could be the analyzer as the server or you are connecting through a termserver.

What do you have for these settings on the instrument…

1. Check Enable Host Communication box

2. Change Host ID to read MEDITECH ?

3. Protocol :  - is it ASTM or HL7

4. Run Host as is it Server or Client ?

Thank you everyone who tried to help us !  We did get it working in test. …

Ours is Client server and we are looking at Meditech as the host.

Device dictionary is setup is

Type is SOCKET

Usage is LAB ANALYZER

Network name is blank

Port number we used is 56565

Listening time out is 60

Then on the instrument side…

Instrument side…

Enable host communication

HOST ID = MEDITECH

Protocol = ASTM

Run Host as = Server

Server IP Address is our  test MEDITECH background server that runs lab jobs.

For live it will be our live lab background server.

Port # is 56565

We did not use any special cabling.

I hope this helps someone going through same issues…
