I have received  a request from our ED providers to color code the entire line of a patient tracker to indicate if a provider has seen  the patient.  If not the entire line, then some other way to indicate if the patient has

been seen using bold, easy to see color coding.  They would like to use two colors, one for nurse assessment and one for doctor exam.  We are a Magic 5.64 site, up with EDM.  Is anyone using color coding on their trackers, or do you know if this is available in Meditech?   I have not heard of it being an option.  Thanks!

We are also a Magic 5.64 site and we do use color coding on our ED Trackers.  I do not know of a way to color code an entire line but you can color code things on the tracker such as name, room, age, status event, time in department, etc....  This is done in the Enter/Edit Color Scheme Dictionary in EDM

You can color code a whole line by making that line one key word at  100% …and then in your color scheme dictionary label what color you want that one keyword….

Like we use RFID 100% and then color coded it blue so it is the line that separates each patient on our tracker…

The way we know our patient has been seen by the doctor is that the doctor signs up for the patient right before going in to see them…so their initials are on the chart…same for the nurse…But we are CS 5.65 so not sure if that makes a difference.

We have a status event of PROVIDER TO SEE .  This status event is set up in the Color Scheme Dictionary to be YELLOW with RED letters (which is very noticeable on the tracker). Once the provider signs up for the patient (right before seeing the patient) the status event changes to TX IN PROGRESS, which is not in color.  This bright yellow with red letters really makes those patients that have not been seen stand out.
Our providers also have a private tracker they can use that only has those patients on it  that have a status event of PROVIDER TO SEE.

Thanks

Works this way also in Magic 5.64.  Our physicians signs up for the patient which links them to the patient, it puts their name on the tracker as the physician as well as it advancing the Status Event to SEEN by MD on tracker.
