Has anyone come up with a report to find out which users accessed an
account in MAGIC without running the MIS user logs and searching through
every user? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Here is one that audits all apps, it is all in a macro, I did not write this (I would be happy to just understand most of the macro code).

I only steal from the best….

It takes a while to run…

Good Luck,

Bill,  It appears you report is not looking at any of the clinical applications.  Am I missing something?  When I run it, it only shows ADM, SCH, ABS.

Thanks.  Carol

Jay,

WOW.  Are you good or what?  Thanks for the info.  I guess if you really want to know what that particular user has been doing it would be good to run all reports but you are right that is a pain.  If anyone comes up with a way to make it work with just one please send along as well.

Thanks for all of your hard work on this!

Carol/Bill,

In regards to your problems with this report, I found KB article 19905 that
describes a similar process to setting up Bill's report.  I tried Bill's
report as well as creating the one in the KB article, and I got the same
results as you guys got.  I could pull info from ABS, ADM, MRI, PRV, and
SCH, but no info from the clinical or financial modules.

I opened a task with MEDITECH to find out why it was not pulling information
from the other modules since they had posted an article about this type of
report.  Our RW specialist said that the report was pulling information from
all applications on our "A" segment (since the NPR application is on our "A"
segment).  The applications I mentioned above are on our "A" segment as
well.

The solution he offered, which he even noted was not an ideal solution, was
to attach the report to a menu from a module of each segment.  He said that
this has been an issue in the past.  In our case, I had to attach the report
to a menu of all segments, because our clinical modules are on the "B"
segment, our financial modules are on "C" (to pull patient account access
from BAR), and Pharmacy is on "D".  I would have 4 reports, but I would have
all of the access information from all applications, right?

Wrong.  I then ran into another problem...I could not pull any info from
RAD.  I tried attaching the report to both RAD and RADRW menus, which did
not work.  MEDITECH did not have a solution for pulling RAD info onto this
report since it was a $T application, so I had to go in a different
direction.  I created a different report under the RADRW.UA DPM to pull this
information.  So that makes a total of 5 reports.

I wanted to let everyone know that there was a workaround for this problem,
and it does work, but it would be better if all of the info could be
combined onto 1 report.  Hopefully, someone out in "L" land will be able to
figure out how to do this!

Thanks,

If someone figures it out and can make the changes please let us know.  The
report looks great if we could just get the clinical apps as well.

Your right, I never noticed that. I work in IS and do not document or enter
orders in LIVE on patients, just in TEST.
I am not sure why the report is not getting the clinical modules. It is
capturing both clinical and non-clinical users, but for routines in
ADM,ABS,MRI,SCH only?
Thanks for catching this.
I will see if I  can figure this out (Joe C,Brian S,Double T and all you
smart programmers or just good npr writers out there, here is a challange).

Thanks Jay, Would you be willing to share your RADRW.UA report?

Since the data physically resides across multiple machines I don't see
an alternative to the work around you were suggested. As for scheduling,
since the report is an MIS report it will always be run on the MIS
master segment so to schedule it to run you would need to get fancy and
move it to another DPM in an applicatino on the desired machine.

What about PCI? Is there a standard report for this data or is it
reported in the MIS report of the segment it resides on?

That makes sense, I didn’t look at my list of apps per segment (I have it on my desk?).

I would not want to have to run 5 reports to audit one user or one patient to see who accessed that patient or what that user did that day.

The report I sent after the initial one, that I got from someone(?) with the 2 macros does loop thru PCI ($T) and RAD ($T) and RADRW(NPR).

See attached text file for some of the clinical data, ran from the report MIS.USER.zcus.bm.detail.log

This report is set up for downloading and FTP, I will edit it so it will be easier to view and run for one user/device or one patient.

Good Luck,

John:

That report that had the wrong footnotes names in it, does loop thru PCI
and RAD, all modules, so Gary Hall edited it to run for one patient, the
original was running by date.

I am looking at Gary's edited report of my adopted (someone sent it to
the L) report and it looks good. I am going to shorten the lines, and
some of the computed fields so the report will not be so long. It was
intended as a download/FTP report.

Good Luck,

          Hello everyone.

I seem to be missing something in this thread of e-mails. Seems as though you all are making a lot of extra work for yourselves.

I have our MAGIC system setup to spool the standard Meditech User Log every morning, which pulls some detail from every module. I upload this daily file into an Access database. At the beginning of the next month I create an new Access database. (Yes, I know I can upload this file into a SQL database. I have just been too busy and lazy to do it.)

The data in this standard Meditech User log file is weak for the PCI module, so at the end of the month I spool the MIS User Activity Log By Time (just for the PCI module) and download it. Between these two sources I feel I have at a decent grasp on who is accessing the system.

To save the information for posterity   I burn the monthly Access database, the MIS PCI User Log, as well as the Caretaker Log for the month, the Dialup Activity Log for the month, and the "Remote Access Log" off of the Meditech web page to a CD.

So, am I missing something?? Why is there such interest in creating a homegrown report?

Thanks.

Doug

Do you have a different User Log?  Mine doesn't have the date accessed or the patient whose info was accessed?  I need that for HIPAA  audits.

Thanks for the information, I was only sending this report out to the L,
because someone requested it. We use Iatric's SAM system, so I do not
need this report or use it. I just edited it and tried to make it work
for users/facilities that do not have SAM.

Many thanks for giving us your method for keeping the audits.
