[MT-L] abstract compile reports in magic

Is there a way to automatically start a compile from a selection file without user intervention in Abstracting on the Meditech Platform?

It sure would be nice to have that Auto Compile feature in Abstracting.

I never understood why Meditech didn't implement this auto compile in
Abstracting as I think lots of facilities would find this very useful.

The auto compile feature is available in Billing (Magic 5.64)

They could just port that code over to Abstracting.

How difficult would that be ?

I think you could schedule a report to run it out of report writer. We
run this report and it pulls an Abstracting compiled report. I did not
write it, but I am guessing that is what it does. Here is the select. I
tried to send the report and it sent my email encrypted. If you want the
report, let me know

In case anyone cares, this functionality exists in 6.0.. you can
schedule your compile jobs to run automatically.
Once compiled, you then have to manually run the report with the file
the compile generates. Just a time saving feature more than anything..

Looking forward to 6.0 then.

You could have TWO scheduled reports then, one to generate the select
file.

And the other to check for that select file existing and in a created
status.

That is not a option for us short term since it will cost us 9 million to go to 6.0 and a new data center to put it in.

Scripting may be the answer for you.

I use scripting as a last resort though. If for some reason the
scripting fails, years after originally implemented, its sometimes hard
to trace the problem back.

That's from my own experiences though.

I always strive to implement a Meditech contained solution before going
outside of the box with scripting.
