I never understood why Meditech didn't implement this auto compile in
Abstracting as I think lots of facilities would find this very useful.

I think you could schedule a report to run it out of report writer. We
run this report and it pulls an Abstracting compiled report. I did not
write it, but I am guessing that is what it does.

You could have TWO scheduled reports then, one to generate the select
file.
And the other to check for that select file existing and in a created
status.

I use scripting as a last resort though. If for some reason the
scripting fails, years after originally implemented, its sometimes hard
to trace the problem back.
That's from my own experiences though.
I always strive to implement a Meditech contained solution before going
outside of the box with scripting.
