Hello,
Our facility is a rural setting that is utilizing EDM and PDoc. We currently have 7 patients in our community that when they come to the Emergency Department our staff is supposed to follow certain guidelines for their disease process. These guidelines were set up by other providers in a different organization.

Our issue is that since currently we only have a handful of patients that have such guidelines our staff is afraid that one of the patients will come into the door and the correct routine for that patient won't take place. Example, a toddler that has a rare diabetic condition that needs certain fluids etc that is not what you would "typically" order in our facility.

Wondering if anyone happens to have this type of issue as well. I'm hoping to find a way to flag the users via the tracker that this patient has "extra" stuff. I thought maybe if I made them a VIP patient that I could flag that somehow on the tracker, but I haven't figured out that solution yet?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks,

You might try the special program indicator located in ADM.....
With a separate entry for the specific protocols, you could setup a message when the patient arrives and is registered to alert someone.

Not a great option, and won't work in CS (no SPI field) but as another option you could setup a Demo Recall CDQ in ADM, and do the same thing.

We did this for patients who refuse blood services in Magic, not sure what's being done in CS.. (I don't support ADM at this time). We do use a query for "Do you have any special needs we need to know for your care?" Which, if Demo Recall, may be another option.
