I am completely lost (as usual). Our Lab staff want to delete an auto
differential if a manual differential is ordered on a CBC. Meditech
suggests a calculation to accomplish this, I don't understand how to set-up
a calculation to tell something to delete.

Anyone out there have a rule or calculation that will accomplish this? Or
"Dummies guide to Lab rules and calculations"??

Thanks,

think we can delete .

It all depends on how you have your charging set up for these tests, but
we have a calculation that replaces each auto diff result with a "NP" if
the manual diff is resulted. But, if you have a charge attached to the
auto diff this wouldn't cancel or credit the charge. In that case, you
could set it up as a reflex to an order group that is a "delete" type.
Just attach the reflex at one of the tests that is part of the manual
diff and that would always be resulted.

You can use your own specific mnemonics that you wish to "NP" in the Target Test column. This calculation will replace the auto diff results for all of our Target Tests with "NP" if the MD is equal to "MAN DIFF".

Mnemonic DIFFA Active? Y Description NP AUTO DIFF Type POST

Target Test Trigger Tests
NEU Label Ord Res NP ND QNS Spec Hrs
GRAN MD Y Y N N N Trigger Test
LY DIFF?
MON
MID
EO
BA
NRBC%
NEUN
LYN
MONN
EON
BAN
RBCMA
PLTM

Recalculate: Ask? Dft?

Edit?
IF{(MD="MAN DIFF") "NP"};

You can use 2 order groups, one to delete the auto diff and the second
to add the manual diff. Your lab consultant should be able to help you
set this up. If you get stuck, give me a call and I'll help you. I
thought there was a KB article but I can't find it.

The trouble we have is that the original order in OE goes ot a canecelled status but you can view the report of the CBC that lab replaced it with. ????
