I’m interested if other facilities allow users to reset their own password and what verification process if used. What product are you using for password management.

Thanks,

Hi Charlene,

We use Active Directory coupled with Imprivata’s One-Sign. Utilizing a few scheduled NPR reports (6 per facility) written in PP.PER with fragments in MIS.USER we update the Active Directory databases nightly to keep management reasonable( <0.5 FTE ). We have had this running for just a tic over three years now. You can contact Adam Witt adam...@hpha.ca @ (519) 272-8210 ext 2250 if you would like the NPR reports and details on how the whole thing is structured. We are Magic 5.67. The reports will need to be reworked just a smidge for C/S.

Good Morning Charlene,

We do not allow users to reset expired passwords or unlock locked accounts.  For those to be reset they have to call our helpdesk.  The are challenged with three of the five challenge questions they chose during orientation.  If they cannot answer three of them correctly then they have to present to IT with their employee badge (or other photo id for non-employed users).  We built the challenge question system in house.

We do not allow employees to reset their own password.

If an employee needs to have the password reset, their manager needs to contact the IT department and request the

reset.

On off shifts, weekends and Holidays the employee needs to contact the Nursing Supervisor, who then contacts IT.

If a physician needs a reset, the staff person in the Medical Staff Lounge notifies us, but again if off hours the physician

needs to contact the Nursing Supervisor

We implemented self password management using a product called mypassword. (you can reset your password by answering your filed questions)

Keep in mind that this manages passwords through active directory which our Meditech uses.
