I have a question concerning the pharmacy drug dictionary in Magic. We
are a 5.61 site and just got an answer from Meditech that I'm confused
with. We were getting a bunch of rejections on our rejection master
list. As it turns out, it is coming from a drug in our dictionary.
Apparently, at some point we had used the site of MAIN for this drug but
then changed to .DFT. All of the info in the .DFT site is correct, but
every time the drug was ordered, it showed up on our rejection master
list as Procedure not sent. The site of MAIN is all blanked out as we
now use .DFT, so a blank billing field is being sent, thus the Procedure
not sent message. According to Meditech, once a site is activated, it
cannot be inactivated and their suggestion was to just fill in all of
the blanks in MAIN with the info from .DFT. It's not that I don't want
to fill in the prompts for the MAIN site, I just think this is a
accident waiting to happen. This is certainly a spot for errors to
occur. Has anyone else had issues with this? Is Meditech correct in
that there is no way to inactivate a site? Any ideas?
Thanks.

Back in 2007 we had a PHA site assessment. We also had a PHA Site of MAIN. It was their recommendation that we remove MAIN. It is correct that a PHA Site cannot be inactivated however it can be removed from the CDP's and then is no longer in use.
We had to compare parameters to be sure they were the same in both sets. Once the parameters were correct our pharmacy consultant removed MAIN from the CDP's and ran an "initialization". I am not sure what the "initialization" did but that is the story.
We were Magic 5.61 when this was done. Our Meditech Issue# on this is 5324130.
I hope this helps. Merry Christmas!
