I was wondering if anyone knew how Health Professionals (PT, OT, SLP, etc) cosign student documentation in the NUR module in Meditech?

This has come as a concern from users, and we are not sure how to solve the problem. I have spoken with an application specialist at Meditech who told me Meditech does not have a means for Health Professionals to co-sign student documentation. There is no feature to verify or unverify entries as there is in order entry.

The following suggestions were made:

1. Make a mandatory query for co-signing or
2. Create separate student assessments and interventions or
3. Print off the -docementation, physically sign then put it in the paper chart.

Any suggestions?????

Hi Cynthia,

We have a not category called Co-signature. The supervising clinician
would go in at the end of the day and make a note using canned text as
follows:

Cosign Documentation Note
Date and Time: [f today] / [f now] by: [f user]

All documentation for date entered by [name] reviewed and deemed
acceptable.

It's not the best, but seems to work for now.

Thanks,

WE have an intervention in PCS of "Student Documentation Reviewed."
However, as an FYI, there is a MIX request on the Meditech nurse portal
for the ability for nurses to esign. You may want to look at that mix
request and if it is something you feel would be beneficial to you,
weigh in on it with how you would want it to work. I would like to see
nurses have an esign que for things like this. I don't think that
needing to have someone at your elbow to co sign at the time you are
documenting is practical and it will encourage people to do things like
share passwords.

We have a query at the bottom of those NUR CDS intervention screens as
needed that is labeled PT co-signature. The person who is the
instructor or mentor for the student does a View History and edits the
documentation to add their signature. Since they have to review what
was charted anyways, they do it as one step. They do have to know what
the student documented in this case.
