Hi all,

I find myself in a situation where my FSV load has been allowed to fall woefully out of date.  Does anyone out there know if I have to load every single intervening month’s MIS and PHA files? Or, can I simply skip ahead to the most recent MIS/PHA?  Our vendor is First Data Bank.

Thanks!

Not sure if this is correct, but we were always told to do each month separately until get caught up with all of them.   SO that is what we have always done.

Last year we converted from Micromedex to FDB and we were told, and did, the same thing.

Thanks Tom, and thanks everyone else for all the feedback I’ve received.

The responses seem evenly split between OK to skip loads and not OK.  I’ll take the safe route and plug along one by one until I get caught up J

Pam,

It has been my experience  with First Data Bank that you need to load every single month MIS & PHA files.  You will get a warning if you attempt to load the most current month and you are out dated. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Christine

We were told that each file needs to be loaded because they have different changes in each one.

Hope this helps.

Hi Folks,

Not to be the voice of dissent, but we recently converted from Medispan to FDB in August.  One of the points we clarified with meditech was this, and we were told that we did NOT have to load fsv loads that were missed if we fell behind.

That’s good, because FDB actually delivers us WEEKLY fsv files, we just load the newest one once a month.

Meditech confirms this in a KBase article.

https://www.meditech.com/kb/Custform.ASP?urn=42400

On the other hand, for medispan, it is essential that you load them in order, for reasons meditech goes into in the above article.

I am trying to think back what they told us.  We only update monthly also.  We were told you can skip a month or so, but that could cause problems with missed information because each file has different data in it.  That is what I am recalling but cannot take an oath that it was stated exactly like that…ha ha.

Hi Pam-
You can absolutely “skip to the newest file" - WITH FIRST DATABANK. Although the other FSV’s do require sequential loads of missed files to ensure that the recycled NDC’s are updated, FDB does not require the missed files to be loaded because their data has no expiration. I am sure you would agree that we still want to be diligent on loading the data as it becomes available, but the reality is that many sites fall behind in the monthly load/file process. I believe MEDITECH has a KBA on the topic - search “missed FSV updates” and it should popup.

A new, bigger issue are the 6.1 sites that are not following the “new FSV Load Process”. Without getting of topic that you have presented, just a quick note that those 6.1 sites must review the new process required. I have a MEDITECH document outlining the process but attaching it not possible. I can provide that pdf upon, or you can certainly get it from MEDITECH.com too. Let me know...

Have a great day - Kevin.

We were told during the RXM cleanup not to skip any because each FDB monthly/quarterly content contains unique recycled NDCs. This sets up the MEDITECH recycled NDC index that PHA and RXM uses which gets overwritten with each file.
