Good Afternoon L'ers,

I am interested in hearing from anyone out there that is using a GE
Monitor Interface to/from Meditech Client Server (PCS)?

I'd greatly appreciate any info you may be able to share. Here are a
few questions that would be of enormous value to us moving forward. Any
additional thoughts you may have are also welcome.

What inbound/outbound interfaces do you have?

Did you use a strictly Meditech interface or did you work with Iatrics?

Any pitfalls or concerns that we should be aware of?

What is a realistic implementation timeline?

Thanks is advance,

Cherity

We have the GE/Meditech interface.

Users query the system for patient vital signs over some time frame to
populate the PCS spread sheet.

In general, Meditech sends ADT to GE monitor system, via GE "Aware
Gateway" which provides to the gateway to GE's monitor netherworld.

Care providers identify the patient to the monitor and monitor data
flows back through the Aware Gateway to the middleware component. It is
the "middleware" that listens for the queries from the individual
Meditech client sessions and responds with the data that populates the
spreadsheets. At least with our monitors system is dependent on
provider putting in the right patient ID.

In our installation, we have a GE created Quovadx instance that provides
this functionality. My understanding is that GE no longer sells this
component and it would need to come from a terciary vendor such as
Iatrics.

We have had some issues. Most stem from the fact that our monitors
can't handle a whole patient account number, so the decision was made to
use the shorter unit number. This has the affect of allowing certain
circumstances to break the link that was established between the monitor
and the specific account number Meditech is using for the query. For
example, an ICU patient will have a pacemaker clinic event that will
trigger and ADT message for the pacemaker clinic account that breaks the
link to the ICU account that would be getting the vital signs
information.

Most of these issues are pretty well resolved though things do go bump
from time to time.

I'd be happy to discuss our installation if you want to give me a call.
My focus would be on the interface side, if you need info from the
provider's perspective I could arrange.

Sorry should have stated it - but PCS = Client server and the original
question was about C/S

Client Server 5.5 sr2 currently; 5.5sr4 this month - I think we were 5.2
when it was installed
