We had an update in April and we were told by Meditech ( after the update of course) that we needed a new version of VMAGICPPII installed on our background clients.
We do not use Meditech’s Print Server.
So we have been installing new version on a few background clients here and there.
I noticed that on these servers they would sometimes hang and become unresponsive.
I also noticed that If I restart the print spooler, or reboot the background client that the default printer would change on its own.
It will move from our printer in a common area (where items print if the background server cannot find the intended printer), to the Meditech Rendering Engine (MRE) device on the servers.
I started a task with Meditech , but they said the MRE is supposed to be the default printer.
That makes no sense to me.
What does make sense is if someone was trying to print something and the system attempts to print to a default of an rendering engine, the fonts and anything else it needs to print probably will be a mess.
I think that is what is hanging up the server from time to time.
Anyone else had this issue? Are your default printers all set to the Meditech Rendering Engine ?
Thanks in advance !

We just upgraded to 5.67 last week and have the same issues. So far no resolution. Our default printers keep going to Meditech rendering engine as well. We were instructed to set them this way except for the print server. On the Meditech print server, the default printer must be a physical printer.
Our print jobs are crashing as well. This afternoon or tomorrow morning, we will go live with a new document manager (v 5.137.4). I believe we will be the first site to try this. hope it works.
They did have us try the below but it proved unsuccessful. Meditech mentioned that it worked for some sites.
there are hung Vprintprocs. this may be related to windows calling the HP
universal driver and creating a submerged pop up screen. This screen may be
preventing the process to complete.
Need to run a script to disable the HP pop up application from occurring on the Print server. I will also clear all the hung VPrintproc processes and also toggle the Document Manager.
Hope this helps – good luck,
