[MEDITECH-L] Ortho Vitros 5600 Interface to Lab

HI all,

We are trying to get our interface set-up for the new Ortho Vitros 5600
and so far - no good luck.

We are a Magic 5.62 site connecting the Vitros 5600 to Meditech via the
Ethernet connection.

The e-Connectivity connection between the 5600 and the vendor is working
correctly so it is seeing the outside world. When I try to connect it
to the LIS, it does not connect to Meditech. I am able to ping Meditech
from the analyzer, but not the other way around.

So far, both Meditech and the Vendor are telling me that they cannot
tell me the answer.

I am looking for any ideas and suggestions - anyone willing to tell me
their set-up on the analyzer and in Meditech OPS.

Sounds more like a wiring/cable issue, but it also may be something else. I don't remember ever getting a device watch, but we had upload/download success (can't remember the details, but some analyzers wait for a signal from Meditech before communicating - that never happens when doing a device watch, when Meditech is simply listening. What happens if you open a batch and stick a tube on the instrument, or resend data to Meditech?
Another setting to be aware of is the frame size - the default set by Ortho (64000, I think it was) is NOT correct- it must be 240 for the interface to work correctly. Our interface actually worked fine with the default setting until Meditech delivered Application Change/DTS #'s: 138.01 , then everything went down the tubes until the frame size was changed to 240.

Another thing to consider on the network side is the fact that Ortho e-Connectivity uses a firewall/router. That could explain the fact you can ping Meditech but not vice-versa.
I don't have an Ortho but we have an Easy-Link which also uses a router.
