We're a CS 5.54 facility.
We're looking at different ways to print our checks from AP with electronic signatures. I've heard some facilities use an ELF Chip and some facilities don't. I know some facilities use FormFast to print checks without having to use an ELF chip but other facilities do.
What's the difference? How do both processes work (with and without)?
Our main goal is to be able to print checks with electronic signatures instead of having our CFO or CEO manually sign checks.
I'm clueless about this process so any comments/answers help.
Thank you!

The differences (briefly) between ELF Chips and forms software are these:
ELF Chips are setup by a vendor proofed by you and installed in a printer. Once set up they work quite seamlessly until one of the signers leaves. Then you have to go back to the vendor to get them updated. ELF Chips are also very inexpensive. We use them for both AP and Payroll.
Form software is much more flexible than ELF Chips. They all do overlays which allow you to merge data from Meditech and other sources with documents you create. You can do a lot of other documents in addition to your checks such as conditions of admission, advanced directives, acuity worksheets and most of your other documents. Most of them also have other capabilities such as form routing and more. Contact a vendor to get an overview of what they can do. Forms software is rather expensive compared to ELF Chips.
HTH!
