We are a magic site (5.61) and are having a lot of problems with our lab faxes. I am looking for a contact to ask questions to, that have their lab faxes sending without problems using forward advantage. Thanks.

We have had the same issue. I am pushing a product called Care Evolve to
replace the auto-faxing of results to our large outreach program. Care
Evolve is a web based program that allows our clinics to access the
results through a secure website. I will be happy to provide more
information about Care Evolve to anyone who wants it. Personally, I
think it is the best thing to eliminate faxing issues and the
degradation of the results sheets.

We are working on moving to Interbits net delivery client for secure
delivery... We recently replaced Forward Advantage with Net Delivery for
faxing, but lets face it.. faxing is not a good communications method.
Paper runs out, provider offices turn off the fax machines on weekends
and at other random times for fun.... Phone lines are not really
stellar around here, and there is a LOT of wasted hospital resources
resending / printing / couriering faxes to provider offices.

We're still working through all the security issues, but the software
will allow a provider office to automatically login and download / print
/ file save / or whatever to the lab information.

We are a C/S 5.64 facility with multiple lab performing sites and we use
Forward Advantage. FA works well for us.

Feel free to e-mail me for specific information.

I have recently begun using lab Telecom to send faxes when the "autofax" box is checked on the req, as many docs request, to try to automate that process. With wider adoption by users, this is causing bottlenecks in the Telecom process, thus holding up stats. Failed faxes will try 2 more times, 5 min later. As the day progresses, this backs up badly. I can see it only processing one report at a time.
It seems only one telecom device is defined in the customer-defined-params. Do you know of ways to maximize throughput and/or add additional devices? We are Magic 5.62 & FA, tho I don't know what advantage that is...
We also have a device to send spooled "on demand" faxes (MIS), which has to be kept separate from the LAB device.

We are C/S 5.55 and we use Forward Advantage. We have it set to fax each outpatient lab result as soon as it is complete 24/7. We have a separate Telecom site for our path reports and they are set to go out once a day M-F. It works well for us. For the doctors that have an electronic charting system, they have their faxes feed directly into their system.

Hi Jere,
Have you talked to Forward Advantage? I know that we upgraded our
software to the newer client that queues our demand faxes to the front of
the queue ahead of our smart route traffic. We also have more than one
line for faxes to go out on.
Forward Advantage will review your set up and can see if you are
processing faxes slowly and then they will make recommendations on how to
upgrade or speed up the process.
