Hello,

Is anyone using the MIS Provider Dictionary for Referral Doctors who do not have admitting privileges. If so, have you encountered any problems with the Admitting department. If not, how do you keep track of your referral Doctors.

We try to encourage the full lookup at the provider prompt and are
getting ready to implement a custom to force the longer lookup

Yes we enter Referring Physicians into the Provider Dx. We put
Admitting Privileges as NO so registration would get a message if they
tried to use as an admitting. We have not had issues with non-staffers
being used at the admitting doc though. Maybe one or two but they get
fixed at the back end.

Hi Tom, we have various types of Provider Types set up. We have one
called RF (Referring) and one called ST (Staff). Any non staff provider
who sends patients here for things such as lab work or x rays is set up
as a RF provider. We leave the Admit Priv field blank since the system
assumes a NO if this field has a nil value. This provider can then be
pulled in as the ordering Provider in both OE and ITS. When this
happens, in ADM this provider is reflected as the Attending provider.
By having these providers linked and built within our Provider
dictionary, we are able to send these doctors copies of our reports. We
utilize Forward Advantage thus we can autofax reports that are
associated to providers that reside within our MIS PROVIDER dictionary.

Thanks,
Liz
