PROTEST IN NEW YORK AGAINST M.F. HUSAIN'S NUDE PAINTINGS OF HINDU GODS
AND GODDESSES ON MARCH 20TH FROM 10:00 A.M. TO 12:00 NOON
Christie's
20th March auction will feature several denigrating paintings by
Painter
M.F. Husain, besides the one about Ganga-Jamuna.
Hindu Janjagruti Samiti in
cooperation with Indian American Intellectuals
Forum, is organizing a
peaceful protest against M.F. Husain's painting
Ganga-Jamuna at Christie's
Art Gallery on March 20th at 20 Rockefeller
Plaza from
10:00 a.m. to
12:00 noon.
Mr. Husain is notorious for paintings pictures of Hindu Gods and
Goddesses
in nude.
Mr. Husain is a Muslim by faith. If he is so fond of
Art, he should paint
some nude paintings of Prophet Mohammed or the members
of his family in nude
and see what happens to him.
As most of you know
Mr. Husain is a fugitive from justice in India . A lot
of court cases are
pending against Mr. Husain in India for hurting Hindu
sentiments, creating
communal discord, and insulting Indian womanhood.

Please let the undersigned know whether you will be joining us in the
protest on March 20th, at 20 Rockefeller Plaza in front of Christie's.

Dear
Sir/Madam
It is a matter of great regret and shame that the 20th March
auction by
Christie's Art Gallery is featuring several paintings of M.F.
Husain,
besides the
one about Ganga-Jamuna.
Hindu Janjagruti Samiti
and Indian American Intellectuals Forum have planned
to stage a peaceful
protest demonstration in front of Christie's on March
20th from 10:00 a.m.
to 12.00 noon.
For you information, we would like to inform you that Mr.
Husain has gained
ignominy and notoriety in India by painting Hindus Gods
Lord Ganesh, Lord
Shiva, Lord Hanuman and Hindu Goddesses Durga, Lakshmi,
and Parvati in nude and
Sita Mata in a very derogatory and vulgar form.
We would also like you to note that Mr. Husain had been condemned by Indian
Parliament for painting Mother India in nude. In this connection, we have
already forwarded Power Point Presentation prepared by Prof. Dinesh Agrawal,
which lists his deliberate distortion and degradation of Hindu culture.
In India, many groups have expressed their outrage and anguish against his
unacceptable and uncivilized behavior. Seven cases have been registered ag
ainst him. 6 courts have issued arrest warrants against him. More than
28,000
people have signed a petition condemning Mr. Husain for his malicious
attempts to vilify Hindu people. 1250 police complaints have been filed
against
him. In several cities his effigies have been burnt. In nutshell, he
is a
criminal and a fugitive from justice. For further information, please

By his insidious
actions, he has severely hurt the sentiments of more than
one billion Hindus
all over the globe.
We believe, it is unbecoming on the part of Christie's,
a reputable Art
Gallery, to associate with a person of criminal background,
and promote his
paintings.
From the above, it is very clear that Mr.
Husain is very indignified
person. Your association with Mr. Husain could
jeopardize your business interest
in the long run.
In the background of
what has been stated above, we request you to kindly
refrain from auctioning
Husain's painting.
